Chapter 517
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 517:
âNoah?â Sadieâs heart skipped a beat, a mix of emotions rising in her chest.
Had he really stayed with her? Why? Was it out of guilt, or⦠something else? Sadie didnât dare to think about it, afraid she might read into things that werenât there.
âDoctor,â Sadie began, hesitating for a few seconds. âWould it be possible if you didnât tell him Iâve woken up? Not yet, anyway.â
The doctor looked concerned. âI⦠understand, but why?â
âI just need some time to clear my head,â Sadie replied softly. âThere are things I need to figure out on my own.â
âI see. I suppose itâs fine,â the doctor said, nodding in agreement.
Sadie breathed a quiet sigh of relief. Her biggest concern at the moment was the situation with the Howe family.
âDoctor, have you heard any news about the Howe family?â she asked tentatively.
âWellâ¦â The doctor cocked his head to the side before shaking it. âIâm a doctor, not someone who keeps up with the financial world.â
Sadie felt disappointed by the response, but she knew she couldnât blame him. âIn that case, can I be discharged? Iâd like to look into the current news myself.â
âIâm afraid thatâs impossible, maâam,â the doctor replied immediately. âYour current physical state absolutely forbids you from leaving the hospital. Like I said, your brain suffered severe damage trauma. You need complete rest, or there could be complications, and they could be very serious.â
âButââ Sadie began to protest, but the doctor raised a hand to stop her. âI will not budge on this,â he said firmly. âYou need to stay in the hospital for further observation until your condition is completely stable.â
âAll right,â Sadie replied with a resigned sigh. She had no choice but to accept staying in the hospital for now.
Then another thought crossed her mind. âIn that case, may I see someone, doctor? Iâd like to see my colleague, Nanette Barton.â

The doctor paused, considering it for a moment. âYour colleague?â
âYes,â Sadie nodded.
âIâll need to get approval for that. Given your condition, you canât meet with just anyone.â
âThank you in advance, doctor,â Sadie said softly.
âYouâre welcome,â the doctor replied with a smile before turning to leave the room.
The nurses followed him out, leaving Sadie alone.
She lay back in bed, staring at the ceiling as her thoughts raced. She had no idea what had been happening while she was unconscious.
How was the Howe family doing? What else had Noah done?
As the minutes dragged on, Sadieâs anxiety only grew.
How long would she have to wait to learn the truth?
Later, when the sky had darkened, the door to her room opened again, and a familiar figure entered.
âSadie!â Nanette cried, her eyes welling with tears when she saw Sadie on the bed. âYou finally woke up! You had me worried sick.â
âHello, Nanette.â Sadie mustered a smile, a surge of emotions rising in her chest. âDonât cry. Iâm all right now.â
Nanette hurried to Sadieâs bedside and took her hands, looking her over carefully, as if to ensure the medical staff hadnât made her condition any worse. âYou have no idea how worried I was!â Nanette said, her voice thick with emotion.
âIâm sorry for worrying you,â Sadie replied softly.
