Chapter 523
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 523:
âMy father?â Alexâs laugh was bitter. âHeâs only interested in our familyâs gains. Since when has he considered my feelings?â
Aliza trembled with anger. âAlex, youâll regret this!â
âRegret?â Alex shook his head dismissively. âMy only regret is ever meeting you.â He finished his wine in one gulp and left the room.
Aliza stared after him, her eyes seething with fury and defiance.
âAlex, you wonât get your way. And Sadie, she wonât escape my wrath either,â she hissed, her voice laced with venom.
Meanwhile, Sadie lay restless in her hospital bed, her mind tormented. Noahâs words pierced her like thorns, leaving her feeling trapped and breathless.
The next morning, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, bathing Sadieâs pale face in a gentle glow.
Her eyelids fluttered open, yet her vision stayed blurred.
âMiss Hudson, youâre awake?â A nurse walked into the room, her tone laced with concern.
âHow are you feeling? Any discomfort?â
âMy eyesight seems to be getting worseâ¦â Sadieâs voice quavered.
The nurseâs expression shifted to alarm. âDonât worry, Miss Hudson. Iâll call the doctor immediately.â
Shortly after, an ophthalmologist arrived to examine Sadie.
After a thorough examination and a few questions, the ophthalmologist offered a reassuring conclusion.
âMiss Hudson, try not to worry. Your condition is reversible. Iâll prescribe some medication. Follow the directions, rest well, and stay positive. Your vision should improve gradually.â
Relieved, Sadie nodded.
The doctor offered some advice and then exited the room.
The nurse handed Sadie a glass of warm water to help her take her medication. âMiss Hudson, please rest. If you need anything at all, just let me know,â the nurse advised warmly.
âThank you,â Sadie murmured.
Once alone, Sadie lay back, but sleep eluded her.
Her mind churned with thoughts, tangled and jumbled, keeping her from finding peace.
âNoah⦠What do you really want from me?â she whispered, her voice laden with emotion.
Outside her door, the muted tones of a conversation caught her attention. Sadie strained to listen, her blurred vision making out two nurses at the doorway, murmuring to each other.
âI heard Mr. Wall is deeply concerned about Miss Hudsonâ¦â
âYes, he even brought in a top ophthalmologist from abroad. Not just anyone gets that kind of treatmentâ¦â
âHey, what do you think about Miss Hudsonâs background? To have Mr. Wall so devotedâ¦â
âWho knows? But judging by Mr. Wallâs actions, she must be special to himâ¦â
âThat makes senseâ¦â
The quiet conversation of the nurses reached Sadieâs ears.
A wave of bitterness washed over her.
Did Noah truly care about her?
Possibly.
