Chapter 685
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 685:
The contract was airtightâthe deal was complete.
How was this possible?
Sutton had promised Burgess Group would refuse Sadieâs offer.
What went wrong?
Sadie cleared her throat, her voice soft yet audible to everyone present.
âEveryone, the general manager seat has been vacant for a while. Mr. Ralph Castro and I have agreed that Blaine will assume the role.â
Shock rippled through the room.
All heads turned toward Blaine, who flashed a roguish grin and a playful wink.
The shareholders exchanged knowing looks, murmuring softly amongst themselves.
After all, Blaine was Ralphâs grandson, and having a Castro in charge as general manager felt inevitable.
Still, Blaine hardly fit the image of a competent leader.
Coyleâs hands balled into fists, his expression dark with fury.

That scheming woman had crossed the line.
He had carefully orchestrated this meeting to oust Sadie and appoint Sutton to the general manager position.
Yet, Sadie had blindsided everyone by installing Blaine instead.
His entire strategy was in shambles.
Frustration surged within Coyle, pushing him to the brink.
Meanwhile, Sadie, either unaware or indifferent to the storm brewing on his face, pressed on smoothly.
âRegarding the upcoming collaboration with the Burgess Group, Sutton, the logistics department manager, will be solely responsible.â
What? Was she offering Sutton a consolation prize to soften the blow? Rage simmered within Coyle, but he bit it back, knowing he needed to endure it for the sake of his son.
Satisfied with the outcome, Sadie rose from her seat and concluded sharply, âThat will be all for today. Meeting adjourned.â
Without sparing another glance at the attendees, she exited confidently.
Blaine followed soon after, as carefree as ever.
The gathering dispersed abruptly, leaving Coyle frozen, pale with anger and disbelief.
He had spent months plotting, only to be effortlessly outmaneuvered by Sadie.
He seethed with resentment, unwilling to accept the bitter taste of failure, but helpless to reverse it. Noâthere was no way heâd let this slide. He would never surrender so easily.
Outside, as Sadie and Blaine walked in the hallway, Blaine shifted into a playful mood.
âYou were brilliant in there, Sadie. You made Coyleâs face drain of all color.â
Sadie kept her focus, striding steadily toward the elevator.
âYour office is on the 17th floor,â she stated curtly. âIâve assigned an assistant to you. Sheâs capableâdependable.â
Blaine wasnât the least bit concerned about who the assistant might be. What intrigued him was Sadie herselfâcalm, cool, and efficient, just as she had been at the shareholdersâ meeting, a stark contrast to his grandfatherâs description of a delicate woman in need of protection.
Sadie was clearly a beautiful and formidable woman.
Raising a brow in amusement, Blaine watched her walk away. He flashed a wink at her retreating figure before heading downstairs.
