Chapter 1877
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Stella recalled the post she made to scare Keegan.
She was surprised to see Marshall at her house. âWhy isnât he celebrating New Yearâs with his family?â
she thought.
However, she found it impolite to send him away, as he was already at the door.
Stella took the wine, thanked him, and smiled. âI just reposted someone elseâs picture for fun. I assumed that not many people would check their social media on New Yearâs.â
âI just finished work and saw your update, so I thought Iâd drop by and see you.â
Stella was about to ask how he knew she was at the Saun residence, but then she thought about the previous post. She was afraid that Keegan would not be able to find her, so she shared her location. It was understandable that Marshall would know where she was.
âYouâre working on New Yearâs Eve?â Stella was surprised.â Is the law firm that busy nowadays?â
Marshall chuckled and shook his head. âNot really.
Everyoneâs on vacation. I just didnât feel like going home. My aunt is there.â
Stella was stunned for a moment. Then, she understood.
Marshallâs oppressive childhood was due to his younger brotherâs death, and Irene was the indirect culprit of all this.
For him, enduring the pain and forcing a smile to celebrate family reunions was excruciating, especially during the holidays.
Before Stella could speak, Darcie said, âWe have some pierogies. Let me have the kitchen prepare a few side dishes while you guys enjoy your drink.â
Wenham suddenly became cheerful at the sound of alcohol. âItâs great that you came, Marshall.â
âProbably because he brought wine,â thought Stella.
Darcieâs unusual behavior was not surprising. Darcieâs mind worked much faster than Jayleneâs.
When Keegan tweeted the clarification regarding his relationship with Jaylene, Darcie knew that the two would not end up together. Since that was the case, focusing on the company was better than wasting her efforts on Keegan.
While Keegan was a good catch, there were other eligible bachelors in Rivera. And, Marshall was one of them.Books Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
Marshall did not decline Darcieâs hospitality and politely thanked her.
Trevor sat on the couch, secretly taking a picture of Marshall with his phone and sending it to his group chat.
Boredom crept over Vermont, as he joined his family for the New Yearâs Eve celebration dinner. He immediately perked up when he saw the text.
While the elders continued to boast about their children and grandchildren at the table, Vermont suddenly stood up.
Vermontâs father, Greg, frowned. âYou havenât spoken to your aunts and uncles all day. Where are you off to now?â
âIâm going to get my girlfriend. Didnât you say I canât come home for New Yearâs if I donât get married this year?â Vermont replied.
Greg was momentarily stunned and furrowed his brows. âI wonât acknowledge those unruly women even if you bring them home!â
Vermontâs sister-in-law laughed. âGarrett mentioned that Vermont is dating a cute, decent girl.â
Vermontâs mom, Diane, became interested. âWhich heiress did you pursue this time? If you two are serious, Iâll have someone go to her house and propose a union.â
âSheâs from the village.â
The whole family was in shock.
Vermont ignored them, grabbed his phone, and went upstairs.
Once upstairs, he called Keegan.
Keegan was almost at the Saun residence when he saw Vermontâs name pop up. He answered the phone and heard him say, âGot anything new on your plate?â
