Chapter 110
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
âSeeing you also makes me happy, Rebecca said, patting Rosalieâs head affectionately.
âGrandma, Iâm sure youâre not as happy as I am.â
âYou little rascal.â Rebecca chuckled, unable to contain her smile. Acting like a child, and even
competing with me.â
âI insist on doing that,â Rosalie retorted in a childish manner.
âYouâre such a child,â Rebecca sighed. âYou should compete with your husband and see who loves
the other more.â
Rosalieâs smile froze, and her heart suddenly ached. The word âloveâ was ironic in the context of
her and Theodore.
Theodore loved Cynthia.
However, Rosalie couldnât confide her heartache to Rebecca. She had to keep it to herself.
Unaware of Rosalieâs inner turmoil, Rebecca continued, âRose, Iâm on your side. Let me tell you,
never be too good to men. If you spoil them, they wonât cherish you. You have to give them a hard
time once in a while, so make sure Theo loves you more. You have to love him.
less.
Rosalie felt bitter inside, but Rebeccaâs words amused her.
Rebecca was quite cunning.
She stood up from Rebeccaâs embrace, and said, âGrandma, I understand. But in the end, heâs still
your grandson. If you say that, heâll feel upset.
âLet him be upset. Whatâs wrong with boys being upset? I canât let
girls be upset.â
Rebecca pampered Rosalie to the core. Whatever Rosalie did or said was fine, but Rebecca would
find fault with it if others did the same things.
âOh, by the wayâ¦â Rebecca remembered something, âWhereâs Theo? Why did you come alone
again?â
Last time, it was the same. Rosalie came, but Theodore didnât. They waited for ages for him to turn
up.
âTheo has some work at the company,â Rosalie replied.
âWhy does he always have work? Where does all this work come from? Wait here, Iâll call him.â
Rebecca picked up the phone, but Rosalie stopped her.
âGrandma, the company really does have something going on. Trust me, okay?â
âOf course I trust you,â Rebecca said kindly. âI just want to teach him a lesson. He always does this.
He never handles things in advance.â
âGrandma, some things just happen suddenly, and itâs beyond anyoneâs control. Please donât be too
hard on him. He needs more encouragement, and less criticism. Theoâs a very talented person.
Sometimes, youâre too strict with him. Heâs human too, and needs love.â
âOh, you!â Rebecca almost couldnât stop laughing. âYouâre always defending your husband. Iâm
really worried that you love him more than he does you.â
Rosalieâs heart clenched with pain. Of course she loved him, definitely more than he loved her. But
when she next spoke, there was no sign of what she truly felt in her voice.
âWe both love each other.â
The more Rosalie tried to please Rebecca, the worse she felt. Everything she said was fake. She
was afraid Rebecca wouldnât be able to handle the truth pon finding it out one day.
Would Rebecca dislike her as a daughterâinâlaw, and want to avoid her?
âYeah, Theo definitely loves our Rose the most.â
Rebecca, on the other hand, thought she had done the best thing in her life by bringing them
together.
Rosalie stayed in the room with Rebecca. By eleven oâclock, Theodore
still hadnât arrived.
To appease Rebecca, Rosalie stayed with her, reading novels together and discussing the plot.
Naturally, Rebecca knew Rosalie had been helping Theodore stall for a long time.
âRose, call him. Ask him what heâs doing, and why he hasnât come yet.â
