Chapter 35
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
Rosalie felt like her heart was being torn apart, and her mind was on the verge of splitting open.
Cynthia even knew about these things. It seemed that Theodore had been telling Cynthia
everything about his married life over the past year. They had been in contact all along.
âTheo once went on a twoâmonth business trip, right? He was with me,
Cynthia volunteered the information. âHe was with me the whole time, traveling together. He was
happiest when he was with me.â
It felt like one thunderbolt after another was striking Rosalieâs brain. She was in a daze, hoping
desperately that this was just a nightmare and that she would wake up soon.
Rosalie remembered the night when Theodore had come home in a hurry, wanting to be intimate
with her. They hadnât seen each other for two months, and she was deeply in love with him, so she
hadnât pushed him away.
The whole process had gone smoothly. He had been gentle and considerate of her feelings. But the
following day, he asked for a divorce.
Had he planned all of this? Since he wanted a divorce and had been with Cynthia for those two
months, why had he come back that night and touched her? Had he just been squeezing out
Rosalieâs last bit of value?
Rosalie clenched her fists tightly, her nails almost digging into her palms. Only the sharp pain was
keeping her from spiraling. She took a deep breath to calm herself, refusing to let herself panic or
lose her composure because of this womanâs words.
âWhy are you telling me all this? Theodore is going to divorce me anyway. Are you trying to
provoke me? Do you think I care?â
Rosalieâs heart felt like it had been shattered into pieces, but she didnât want to show any signs of
weakness. This was her last remaining shred of dignity.
âProvoke you?â Cynthia innocently shook her head. âNo, you must have misunderstood me. I didnât
mean it that way. Iâm just concerned about you and trying to help.â
Hearing these words from Cynthia made Rosalie feel nauseous. She was disgusted by the mere
thought of it.
âWhat do you mean by âlooking out for meâ, Ms. Zeller? How dare you say that?â
Cynthia let out a sigh before speaking earnestly, âI want you to know that I have your best interests
at heart. Theo is a remarkable man, and Iâm certain you would find him attractive.
âHowever, itâs important to understand that he has strong feelings for me. I donât want you to hold
on to unrealistic fantasies. Iâm telling you this not to upset you, but to help you see the reality of the
situation.â
Rosalie felt extremely repulsed by Cynthiaâs hypocritical stance, but to some extent, what she said
was not entirely wrong.
Unrealistic fantasies? Yes, they were indeed that. All the goodness Rosalie once saw in Theodore
was fake.
She used to think he was a responsible person, but now it seemed that everything he had done was
for Cynthia. All his words and actions had been part of a plan, including his kindness towards her.
Only when he was good to his âwifeâ could Cynthia be safe.
As such a skilled pretender himself, it was no wonder Theodore had fallen for someone like
Cynthia.
+25 BONU
Rosalie didnât fully believe Cynthiaâs words, but she couldnât deny that Theodore did care about that
woman a lot. Just one phone call from her could get him to abandon his legally wedded wife. That
alone was enough to prove that their marriage had been nothing but a sham.
It hurt⦠it really hurt!
âRosalie, donât feel wronged. Theo is a good man who always makes women fantasize. But itâs
good that you see reality now. Youâll find a man whoâs right for you. After all, you werenât born into a
good family. âYou only had the chance to marry Theo because of your parentsâ status. If you didnât
have that, a family like the Spencers wouldnât even look at you. If you want to live a better life, you
should know your place,â Cynthia said with a sneer.
