Chapter 36
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
Despite Cynthiaâs gentle tone, every word felt like a knife, cutting straight to Rosalieâs heart. The
other woman seemed like a victorious queen, crushing Rosalie underfoot and leaving her with no
room to
maneuver.
Indeed, Rosalie had almost forgotten that Cynthia, while not on the same level as the Spencer
family, still came from a wealthy
background.
Struggling to control her emotions, Rosalie clenched her teeth and sternly said, âMs. Zeller, youâre
overthinking it. Iâve known Theo for ten years. Do you think I donât know what kind of person he is?
âMoreover, he made it clear to me before we got married that ours was a contractual marriage. You
have no idea what heâs going to give me after our divorce. Please donât pity me. Iâm not as helpless
as you think.â
Upon hearing Rosalieâs words, Cynthiaâs worried expression softened into a slight smile. âIs that so?
You donât feel wronged being with Theo?â
âAs you said, heâs an outstanding man. In this past year of marriage, heâs given me everything
besides love. I have no complaints,â Rosalie replied.
Cynthiaâs eyes narrowed. Just as she was about to say something, her gaze suddenly shifted to a
certain spot. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Rosalie.
âRosalie, from what youâre saying, youâre not sad about divorcing Theo. You donât care about him at
all, do you?â
Rosalieâs nails almost pierced her palms, the excruciating pain
making it hard to breathe.
Fun she endured the pain and said, âThatâs right, I donât care.â
Cynthia covered her heart, sighing repeatedly. âOh, I see. I guess Iâve been overthinking it, worrying
about you all this time. How foolish of
Seeing Cynthiaâs vulnerable appearance, Rosalie furrowed her brow. Ms. Zeller, you donât need to
worry about me. You should worry more about your own health, assuming, of course, what you said
is true.â
âWhat do you mean by that?â Cynthiaâs brow furrowed.
Rosalie recalled the day at the restaurant when she had seen Cynthial with people who seemed to
be her friends. Cynthia had appeared radiant and confident at the time, hardly resembling someone
with only one lung and a heart problem.
Of course, Rosalie couldnât be certain of this. She had no evidence,
only speculation, so she didnât say it outright.
âYou donât have to concern yourself with what I mean, Ms. Zeller. After all, your health hasnât been
great, has it?â
Rosalie sensed that something was off.
âRosalie, your words are too malicious,â Cynthia said inexplicably. You think I canât tell? Are you
implying that Iâm faking it? If you donât believe me, Iâll show you my incision scar.â
Cynthia stood up from the sofa, clutching her heart. But as soon as she rose, she exclaimed in pain
and collapsed weakly to the floor.
âCindy.â A tall figure swiftly rushed over, embracing Cynthia in concern. âCindy, what happened?â
Tears were already streaming down Cynthiaâs face. âTheo, I⦠Iâm fine. Have you finished your
meeting?â
Rosalie didnât know when Theodore had returned, but considering Cynthiaâs sudden collapse,
perhaps he had been standing behind her the whole time. This cunning woman was really quite the
actress.
After helping Cynthia to the sofa, Theodore faced Rosalie with a cold expression.
âI asked you to take care of Cindy, but instead, you intentionally harmed her. I was only away
briefly, and you dared to behave like this.
I canât even begin to imagine what you might do when I am not around.â
