Chapter 846: Just kiss me, and it’ll eventually lead to love.
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
"Iâll kill him. If I donât, then Iâll let him know I can."
Pennyâs lips quivered, her sharp eyes growing rounder until her irises formed into heart shapes. She cupped her face, leaning closer to Zoren.
"Renren, how can you effortlessly bring out my feminine energy?" she giggled. "Gosh~ I probably carried all the bad luck from my previous life just to be this lucky this time around~!"
Zoren arched a brow before chuckling. "I thought you would stop me."
"Why would I? You look like youâd fight me too if I did!" Penny laughed. "But, well, just donât kill him, okay? I donât want my husband to get charged with murder."
"I have the Phantom Circle."
"..." Penny was rendered speechless for a second, blinking innocently as she looked at him. After a beat, she slapped his shoulder lightly and clicked her tongue.
"Ah." Stunned, Zoren rubbed his shoulder and gazed at his wife with surprise.
"Renren, I know you have the Phantom Circle, but donât do that!" she frowned. "I know theyâre all so annoying, and this mystery is such a headache. However, people... had miserable lives in the past. Although I donât know if you didâ"
"I did."
"Renren, you donât even remember your past life."
"I donât need to remember it to know it was miserable," he replied instantly, his tone certain. "Just the fact that you werenât in it is enough for me to know how miserable it was."
Penny pursed her lips, puffed her cheeks, and huffed. "Letâs not talk about it for now. Hehe."
"I agree. Itâs depressing to think I wasnât in your life." Zoren shook his head, which made Penny chuckle because until now, Zoren had never been pleased with that part of the past. "Anyway, aside from this gift, is there anything else you liked?"
"Mhm. A few!" Penny pointed at the unwrapped gifts on the other side of the couch. "Iâm keeping them."
Zoren tilted his head to check, catching his wife as she picked up a few small boxes to show him.
"This is from Harper. She said it was a family heirloom that brings good luck and fortune..." Penny happily explained before quickly moving to Mildredâs gifts.
Zoren just listened to her voice, not particularly impressed with the gifts his wife had received from his so-called family. However, knowing she was pleased was good enough for him.
"That one is from Amir; he bought it at an auction... and this one is from Noah." Penny grinned at him. "Iâm still not sure, but I think heâs giving me a small portion of his share in JJ Mall."
Zoren raised a brow. "His share?"
"Mhm. Surprising, right?"
"Huh..."
"Why?"
"Nothing." Zoren shrugged. "JJ Mall has always been neutral and has stayed away from the family drama. However, by doing this, it seems theyâre planning to join the fun."
"Hehe. Donât worry, my love. Iâm not taking you down." Penny winked at him. "I just donât want you to worry about me."
"If the Piersons are what you want, you can always take them," he returned reassuringly without missing a beat. "Donât worry about taking me down. Iâd be on my knees holding the crown for you."
Penny pouted slightly, narrowing her eyes playfully. "Gee! Renren, you really are cheesy sometimes."
"I call myself romantic."
"Pfftâ"
"I said romantic, not comedic. Still, if being romantic makes me a laughingstock, so be it. Iâll be the joker."
"Renren, shhh!" Penny smacked her lips, shaking her head. Even though she was laughing at his sentiments, which were spoken with such seriousness, she still found it cute. Everything her husband did and said was always good, for sure.
"Moving on, this is a gift from Ashley!" she continued after clearing her throat, grinning as she turned to Zoren. "I heard youâve been helping her financially. How can you say you didnât know her when I asked?"
Zoren tilted his head to the side. "Where did you hear Iâm supporting her financially? Why would I do that?"
"Huh?" Penny furrowed her brows. "Mark told me youâve been helping her under the guise of an insurance payout for her husbandâs medical needs. Her husband was in an accident and is still in a coma."
"Ah."
Penny narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "You forgot?"
"Not forgotten, per se... but rather, I just donât think about it. Iâve done my part and tried to help as much as I can. Should I have to think about the help I give people and remind them that they owe me?" he replied indifferently. "What happened to her husband was unfortunate. The least I can do is not remind her that heâs still breathing because of me. Besides, her husband was like a good big brother figure. Although he was from a distant relative, he showed great potential to earn a seat at the table."
"So, when you asked me about her, I didnât remember until now that you mentioned it," he added. "Iâm sorry."
"Why are you apologizing?" Penny pouted a bit before smiling. "Goodness. You really are a good person, huh?"
"Iâm not a good person."
"You are, even if you donât admit it." Penny held up the coasterâthe gift from Ashleyâin front of her. "If not for you, I donât know what couldâve happened to her and her husband. But the best part is, you donât try to take advantage of it."
Zoren smiled subtly. "Itâs not help if one expects something in return, is it?"
"Youâre right." She grinned, her eyes sparkling with pride. Her husband might have many other qualities that stood outâhis face, for instanceâbut his heart was truly golden.
"Renren." Penny pursed her lips and set the coaster aside. She moved away a little before jumping on him, settling on his lap with a graceful smile. "I planned to have this place so I could be close to my work, but since Iâve been living with you, I couldnât stay in it."
Zoren slowly leaned back, hands resting on her hips. "And?"
"Should we do it here?" she beamed, making the corner of his lips curl up.
He smirked, pulling her waist closer until her hand fell on his chest. "You donât have to ask. Just kiss me, and itâll eventually lead to love."
A giggle slipped past her lips as she bent toward him, lowering her head until her lips met his.
