A Life Debt Repaid By Cheng Xiaocheng Chapter 113
A Life Debt Repaid
Simonâs voice was shaking even as he roared furiously, âCordy Sachs! Youâre actually suing your own grandmother for assaulting you?! The cops just told me that youâre taking a legal course of action instead of selling it privately! Forget the production plant riotâthis is your grandmother! What do you think others would say?!â
She had really gone too far this time!
âGrandmother?â Cordy laughed coldly. âDidnât she tell you? She just said that Iâm not a member of her family, that Iâm not allowed in her house ever again.â
âSheâs just upsetâ¦â
âIâm upset too.â
âSheâs your grandmother! Your elder! How could you hold anything against her?!â
âSo she gets to hit me without consequences?â
âCordy Sachs!!! Youâre not listening to reason!â Simon shrieked.
Cordy laughed again.
Listening to reason? What part of anything he said was reason?
Did he ever admit that Plum was at fault?
Did he ask what actually happened or listened to her explanation, for that matter?
Whatever.
Cordy never held much hope toward the Sachs.
âIâm hanging up,â she said coolly.
âCordy Sachs!â Simon was stamping his feet in frustration. âAre you trying to humiliate us?! Do you really think that charges on your grandmother would stick?! Donât think for a second you can do whatever you like just because you put on a show for press and caught some hype with Starstream Group! I strutted in North City for years, and our family has a reputation! If you think Iâm really afraid of you, Iâll make you suffer more than-â
âBut what if I get involved?â
Cordyâs fingers stiffened while her heart pounded, watching as John took her phone and spoke. Iâm John Levine. If I get involved, do you think the charades on your mother would stick?â @
Simon clearly frozeâhe never thought that John would be at Cordyâs side!
And though Johnâs voice was flatly, it sent chills up the spine.
In fact, Simonâs heart was thumping when he realized what John was talking about.
If John really got involved, the Sachs would be crushed in an instant.
That naturally left Simon lividâCordy had certainly been walking all over him for a while now!
Even so, he had to bear with it, and even his tone was much calmer when he spoke again. âOh, Mr.
Levine⦠Itâs an honor. Also, itâs just a misunderstanding. Weâre just having the usual father-
daughter argument, nothing more. You have nothing to worry aboutâ¦â
âWhat I worry about doesnât matter,â John replied, taking no notice of Simonâs fawning. âIâll only ever stand with Cordyâwhatever she wants, Iâll give.â
âOh, itâs Cordyâs eternal fortune to have you as his boyfriend,â Simon said, forced to be sickly sweet now that he was threatened. âWell, since youâre with Cordy, I shanât impose. Do come by for dinner when you have time too, sirâ¦â
John did not say yes, and Simon was tactful enough to shut up and hang up, after which he was glowering.
So Cordy was now strutting because John had her back. Was that it?!
