Chapter 695
A Life Debt Repaid
It was a little awkward, especially since Cordy hated anything conspicuous.
Even so, Patrick was pulling every trick he could to declare his passion for her. He was almost stubborn about doing the exact opposite of what she preferred.
Still, she held Dickyâs hand and walked towards Patrick.
âWelcome back,â he greeted them.
âAnd what are you doing in North City?â Cordy asked.
âTo receive you, of course.â
âAnd howâd you know what flight I was on?â
âFor my beloved, Iâd brave hell and high water-â
Noticing Cordyâs glare, he promptly admitted, âI asked your assistant.â
Cordy wondered if she should start questioning Randyâs loyalties.
âCome on. Iâll give you a ride home-â
âCordy? Is that your boyfriend?â Nana suddenly asked.
She and Lucas werenât far, just a few paces. She quickly approached Patrick the moment she saw him.
âAnd you areâ¦?â Patrick asked, frowning at Nana.
He didnât remember her among Cordyâs list of family and friends.
âHello. Iâm Nana Lynd, Cordyâs cousin.â
âYou have cousins?â Patrick gasped in surprise.
âI obviously fell out of the sky when I was born,â Cordy snorted in annoyance.
Patrick blurted, âBut I thought you disowned all your familyâ¦â
He gave in immediately when he saw another sharp look from Cordy, and apologized immediately.
âYes, yes, I apologize for my shallow knowledge. Iâll reflect upon my sins.â
âThen⦠Are you Cordyâs boyfriend?â Nana pressed.
Patrick began, âItâs actually a work in progress-â
âHe is,â Cordy suddenly caught him short, wrapping her hands around Patrickâs arm.
Nana appeared surprised. Lucas seemed to blink beside her, though he remained impassive otherwise.
Dicky was furrowing his little brows.
He certainly wasnât against the idea of his mother getting a new daddy for him, butâ¦
He couldnât help glancing at Lucas just then, but found no reaction from the latter.
In fact, Lucas noticed his gaze, and flashed a smile at him.
Dickyâs face contorted in displeasure. How could Lucas still smile when Mommy was running away with another man?!
However, Lucas was used to Dickyâs hostility. The kid can really hold a grudge-more than his mommy.
In fact, his mommy would only at least try to play along, but the kid wouldnât hide his feelings at all.
Meanwhile, Nana quickly corrected herself. âHello, cousin-in-law.â
Her voice was as sweet as ever.
âHi back,â Patrick smiled, clearly having a good impression of Nana.
But who wouldnât? She was docile, always smiling, passionate, tactfulâ¦
âItâs late, so we have to go now. Have fun in North City,â Cordy said, her hands still around Patrickâs arm as she bade Nana and Lucas farewell.
âOkay. See you!â
As Cordy, Patrick and Dicky left, Dicky turned to glance at Lucas for a moment before turning around again furiously.
There really was no saving his daddy!
â i In the car, Patrick suddenly sighed emotionally. âIf I had known, I wouldâve stopped the car a little further away so that you can cling on to me longer.â
Cordy was speechless.
She kept clinging to him before they left the airport, since she didnât know if they would run into Lucas and Nana again.
Give this man an inch, and he would ask for a mile.
âBy the way, why did you say that Iâm your boyfriend? Have you finally made up your mind to date me?
Actually, I think thatâs unnecessary since weâve come to know each other so well⦠Why donât we just register our marriage instead? Let me decide on a date, and we canââ
âWake up,â Cordy said, cutting his fantasy shorts. âCanât you tell that I just didnât want to deal with those two?â
