Chapter 2027

Gwain and Hank both stiffened in shock. This guy certainly knows how to put

on a show!

“I don’t like people like you. If what you say doesn’t please me, I might just

teach you a lesson,” Gwain threatened, his aura intensifying, intimidating

Gautier.

Both men held mutual disdain for one another. With personalities like theirs, it

was impossible for them to get along. But Gautier had no choice but to lower

himself, as he needed to make use of this self–important man. Smiling, he

replied, “I’m here to give you the Dragon Tome, Mr. Gwain.”

“What?!” Hank couldn’t help but gasp in disbelief.

Although Gwain didn’t say anything, his expression revealed an even greater

shock than Hank’s. After the initial surprise, a flood of joy surged within him,

though it was tainted with suspicion. Before Hank could ask any questions,

Gwain beat him to it, demanding, “Are you telling the truth?”

Chapter 2027 Adoration

“I’m just a simple scholar, not even strong enough to harm a fly. Would I really

dare come to the Lannister Estate and lie to the great Gwain Lannister, the

number one martial artist in Chanaea?” Gautier replied calmly, his smile

never faltering.

“Alright, hand over the tome to Mr. Gwain then!” Hank demanded, reaching

out his hand. But Gautier merely smiled, his expression tinged with disdain.

Gwain, sharper than Hank, immediately asked, “If you really hand me the

Dragon Tome, whatever you want from the Lannister Family, I will consider it.

“You’re as clever as they say, Mr. Gwain. No wonder you’re hailed as the best

in the world!” Gautier had studied Gwain’s personality thoroughly, and he

knew that repeatedly flattering him with the title of “the best” would only

inflate his ego and increase his willingness to negotiate.

“Take a look and see if this is the Dragon Tome,” Gautier said as he took out

an elegantly crafted book, its cover embossed with the words “Dragon Tome.”

This was something he had meticulously written out based on what Roselynn

had recited the previous day, made to look as authentic as possible.

Gwain, still cautious, took the Dragon Tome and began examining it.

Hank, watching from the side, couldn’t figure out Gautier’s motives. Why

would someone come to the Lannister Estate with something so valuable,

completely unafraid that Gwain might simply take it and brush off the whole

exchange as a rightful return of stolen property?

But the next moment, Hank saw Gwain’s expression shift. Not only that, but

Gwain seemed to be testing it out. Suddenly, he broke into an elated grin. “It’s

real! This is the true Dragon Tome!” Unlike the fake one from before, this

technique generated powerful internal strength without clouding the mind.

“Good, as long as Mr. Gwain can confirm its authenticity,” Gautier said

smoothly. “But this is only half of the Dragon Tome. Consider it a down

payment. If you want the other half, you’ll have to do something for me.”

It finally dawned on Hank why Gautier had been so confident–this was his

leverage!

Gwain, recognizing this for what it was a standard business transaction-

smirked coldly. “What do you want me to do for you?”

Gautier’s smile grew more mysterious. Instead of answering outright, he

leaned in close to Gwain and whispered in his ear.

“What? You want me to kill him?!” Gwain’s face changed drastically, his eyes

filled with disbelief as he stared at Gautier. He had initially thought this man

was a small–time player, but it turned out he was a venomous snake lurking

in the shadows.

“Mr. Gwain, the deal has already begun. I’ve given you the deposit. Now, it’s up to you whether or not you want the full reward. Goodbye!” Gautier had thrown

out the bait and saw no need to linger. Without another word, he left the

Lannister Estate, not bothering to sit down for tea or further discussion.

That same evening, Gautier made his way to Teddy’s residence. That night, Teddy was staying in his villa located in Zone 2 of Zovince. The Tanner family’s

villa wasn’t ostentatious, but it was undeniably elegant. While the exterior was

understated, the interior was meticulously designed with intricate

craftsmanship throughout.

“Mr. Tanner, I’ve come tonight to present you with a small gift,” Gautier said as

he entered the room where Teddy was busy with his work.

“Haha, Gautier, you might not know this about me, but I always refuse gifts!”

Teddy said with a chuckle, setting his work aside to greet Gautier with a

smile,

“Mr. Tanner, this isn’t a bribe or any kind of under–the–table gift. It’s simply a

token of my appreciation, something of personal value that holds no

commercial worth,” Gautier replied, smiling knowingly. He had encountered

enough politicians and businesspeople to understand the game. Most

corrupt officials liked to play the part of the upstanding figure, and those who

committed the worst deeds disguised themselves often as righteous

individuals.

“Haha, well, in that case, I’m curious to see what you’ve brought me!” Teddy

laughed warmly, like a kindly elder.

“Mr. Tanner, take a look,” Gautier said, pulling out the half of the Dragon Tome.

Unlike the one he had given to Gwain, this version wasn’t labeled or

presented in an ornate fashion. Yet, despite its plain appearance, Teddy

recognized it immediately and exclaimed in shock, “This… is the Dragon

Tome?!”

“Mr. Tanner, you truly live up to your reputation as Mr. Lestrange described-

sharp in both intellect and martial prowess. I’m in awe,” Gautier flattered him.

“Haha, Gautier, you’re quite something yourself!” Teddy complimented in

return. I’ve heard that Gwain Lannister tried everything, even risking his life, to

obtain this tome but couldn’t. Yet here you are, managing to acquire it so

easily. It proves that in this day and age, brains are more effective than

martial prowess!”

“You flatter me, Mr. Tanner,” Gautier replied humbly. “I was simply lucky to get

my hands on half of the tome. The other half will require more effort to obtain. However, I’ve already used this half to entice Gwain into working for us.”

“Oh, Gwain agreed?” Teddy asked immediately.

Gautier smiled and nodded.

“Excellent! A brilliant move, getting something for nothing!” Teddy slapped His

thigh in excitement. “Gautier, you’ve done even better than I expected. From

now on, you’ll be my special assistant!”

Gautier, remaining humble, said, “You already have two capable assistants,

Mr. Tanner. How could I possibly compare to them?”

“No! You absolutely can compare to them. In fact, once we eliminate

Emmanuel, I want you to be my personal aide. I’ll make sure you receive the

best training and guidance!” Teddy declared, his admiration for the young

man clear.

“Thank you, Mr. Tanner. I will gladly accept your offer!” Gautier bowed slightly,

a calculating smile crossing his face.

Teddy smiled back, clearly pleased. “I really do like you, Gautier, lipianto

groom you for great things!” Then, as if a thought had just struck him, hea asked, “By the way, Gautier, do you practice martial arts?”

Gautier shook his head. “I come from humble beginnings and am not gifted

“Haha, you’re anything but dull! Let me teach your” Teddy laughed The

Dragon Tome is said to be the greatest martial arts technique in the world f

you can learn it, you’ll go from an ordinary man to a top–tier fighter in no

time!”

Gautier’s eyes flickered with uncertainty. He could see right through Teddy’s

intentions–this old fox wanted to use him as a guinea pig to test the torne’s

techniques, making sure they were safe before using them himself. But even

though Gautier understood this, he still expressed gratitude, playing along

“Thank you, Mr. Tanner… no, thank you, Master Tanner!”

This was the perfect opportunity for Gautier to deepen his relationship with

Teddy further.
