After the successful fundraiser, the anti–bandit alliance convoy continued its

journey toward Riverhaven. The trip passed uneventfully, and once the

supplies reached Riverhaven, they temporarily relieved the immediate crisis.

However, Mackenzie’s troubles were far from over.

“Ms. Quillen, there are still six days left until your ten–day deadline. How are

you planning to recover our missing supplies?”

“Yeah, maybe you should just reimburse us directly. Aren’t you loaded

anyway?”

“Let me see them!” Mackenzie had a hunch that the bandits wouldn’t have

anticipated the blockade, so they probably hadn’t covered their tracks

perfectly. Somewhere, they must’ve left a clue that would lead them to the

hidden cache.

“Ms. Quillen, these photos show tire tracks in the snow in front of the lake that

seem recent, though they’ve been partially buried by rocks and snowfall,” Lexi

explained. “But that’s the only spot with tracks; there are none in the

surrounding area! They suspect the supply trucks may have passed by the

lake and tried to escape, but even after searching the vicinity for two days,

they still turned up nothing.”

about to speak, Rhett gave them a look that stopped them in their tracks,

the hill. Although the snow from recent days had buried many signs, she was

certain she could see traces of intentional tampering here.

“That’s it! The supplies have got to be buried in the lake!” she exclaimed,
