from everyone around, their faces reflecting shock.

“But, Your Holiness, we searched the lake a whole day and didn’t find

anything!” Falcon hurried over, voicing his skepticism.

“Exactly!” Anna confirmed. “We split up and searched multiple areas, covering

a radius of about 300 yards from the shore, but found absolutely nothing!”

Quintus frowned, joining in, “If that’s the case, maybe Mackenzie’s guess is off.

I mean, a truck plunging into the lake shouldn’t have been able to go that

far!”

The group nodded in agreement, but Mackenzie remained steadfast, even

gasped. “You’re saying they drove up the hill, then accelerated toward the

lake, using the height and momentum to launch the trucks far out into the

deeper part of the lake, right?”

Quintus clapped his hands. “Why didn’t I think of that? You’re a genius,

Mackenzie!”

But, Your Holiness, the hill nearest the lake doesn’t seem very tall,” Rhett

asked, voicing another doubt.

Mackenzie smiled. “The trick isn’t in how close the hill is to the lake but in how

high it is. Watch!” She picked up a long stick and sketched on the ground. “If

the trucks were at top speed and the hill had the right incline–say, around

45°-the trajectory would allow them to travel quite a distance.”

As they watched her sketch out the physics involved, the group collectively

took a sharp breath, clearly impressed.

“D*mn, knowledge is power!” Quintus muttered, awestruck.

the recent heavy snowfall caused snow to roll down, covering any other

traces. After the trucks plunged into the lake, a skilled fighter likely damaged

far from the lake, no one suspected the trucks had vanished this way!”

The group tensed up at this revelation.

you’ve got to get those supplies out, or we’ll never be able to explain things to

the media and the whole country!”

“The adults are talking; go cry somewhere else!” Quintus snapped,

impatiently shoving the whining Anthony aside.

Mackenzie ignored the chatter and issued her orders. “Quintus, take a team

and spread out. Those bandits wouldn’t just toss away something so

valuable; they’re bound to have plans to retrieve it. They might be holding off

ecause they’ve spotted our people nearby.”

Realization dawned on the group again.

“Your Holiness, you’re honestly the smartest woman I’ve ever met!” Rhett

couldn’t help but marvel. Mackenzie’s ability to deduce that the supplies were

in the lake went beyond typical thinking. Instead of focusing on searching the

lake itself, her logic extended to what the bandits might use nearby–it was a

perspective few could grasp.

Mackenzie, however, didn’t show any pride. “Let’s save the compliments until

we actually recover those supplies! Rhett, come with me to the lake.”

followed Quintus, spreading out to search along the hillside.

Quintus‘ team couldn’t locate anything on–site. And just as Mackenzie had

anticipated, not long after they began examining the lakefront, they received

a call from Quintus.

“Mackenzie, you’re unbelievable!” Quintus‘ voice buzzed with excitement. “We

barely made it to the base of the hill and found boats and a full set of

salvage tools stashed in a lakeside estate! These folks were armed–and

definitely shady–but we managed to drive them off and seize their gear!”

“That’s fantastic!” Anna, who had stayed close to Mackenzie, could hardly

contain her excitement. She turned to Mackenzie with admiration, saying,

conditions. With this snow and wind outside, you should rest in the tent,” Lexi

pleaded, worried for Mackenzie.
