“How arrogant!” barked Charles Hickman, the high–ranking official from the Military Affairs Bureau, taking the lead in fanning the flames. “Does this man think his troops can just march in today? Does he

think we’re so easy to bully?”

His words emboldened the crowd, sparking a wave of restlessness among them.

With Charles keeping an eye on things and this being the Chapman Estate in Zone 2–not some public entertainment venue–there was no way any military force could intervene. Unless the Chapman family was willing to stake everything on protecting Emmanuel, it was impossible for him to summon any reinforcements.

On the other hand, those who had gathered here under the guise of attending a marriage proposal had already set up their own forces. Inside and out, several hundred people had been deployed, most of them skilled fighters. Among them was Birch, one of the Eight Supreme Grandmasters of Zovince, along with martial arts experts from the Lannister family.

Chiara herself was a formidable presence. Even though Gwain hadn’t come in person, Wyatt and other fighters from the Lannister family were already in position, prepared for action.

Then there was Clive, who pointed directly at Emmanuel and shouted furiously, “Emmanuel, you killed my nephew Hank! There’s no way we’re letting this go. Today, the Lannister family will avenge his death!”

Emmanuel couldn’t help but laugh at Clive’s shamelessness. “Haha… I’m not the one who killed Hank. But if you’re all so eager to settle scores with me, then come on! Stop wasting time with all this empty chatter!”

He had no patience for their nonsense, nor any interest in trying to wake those who were willfully blind to

reason.

The influence of one of the Four Beauties was undeniable, and now she had raised the stakes to a life–and- death duel. A woman had already stepped forward–how could the men possibly stand idly by?

“What a cunning woman,” Veronica muttered under her breath, her eyes narrowing.

She saw through Chiara’s ploy instantly. This was all a performance, a deliberate act to ignite the fighting spirit of everyone present.

Otherwise, they would all hesitate. Emmanuel’s strength was well known, and anyone who attacked first would likely suffer the greatest loss. Everyone understood that Emmanuel was doomed today, but no one wanted to be the sacrificial lamb..

Hearing this, Ashton gritted her teeth, stepped forward and shouted, “Chiara, Emmanuel has no interest in fighting women. If you want to pick a fight with him, you’ll have to get through me first!”

Her bold declaration sent the blood pulsing through Nathan’s veins.

If even Ashton could stand up for Emmanuel, how could he–Emmanuel’s eldest disciple–stay silent? His master was being surrounded and attacked in the Chapman Estate. If he didn’t act, how could he face anyone afterward? How could he call himself a man?

But Veronica, noticing his intentions, stopped him with a firm hand.

“Nath!” Veronica’s voice carried a note of panic.

But before she could intervene, several of her younger sisters crowded around her.

Audrey grinned mischievously. “Veronica, it’s rare for Nath to stand up for a woman. Let him be a man for

once!”

“Exactly! He’s in his twenties now. You can’t keep treating him like a child forever,” another chimed in.

Faced with their playful coaxing, Veronica could only sigh and watch how things unfolded.

Xylie, watching the scene, felt a sense of relief. It seemed Nathan had finally found someone he cared for.

Emmanuel, who had initially planned to step in to help Ashton, paused upon seeing Nathan enter the fight.

To his delight, his eldest disciple had made remarkable progress. Just a year ago, Nathan was weaker than Ashton. But now, his skills and cultivation level had clearly surpassed hers.
