Chapter 2201 Torn Between Paths

Quintus grew restless outside the room, idly kicking a mall stone as boredom took hold.

The stone rolled to a stop near a pair of elegant legs.

Looking up, Quintus saw Hattie and Blake had arrived.

“What’s happening? Is Magnus still in there?” Hattic asked, her concern growing.

“Yeah!” Quintus huffed, clearly frustrated. “What’s taking them so long? I should’ve gone in first.”

Hattie felt uneasy. She knew her father’s schedule well he was always quick and decisive, so this long conversation was off. She hadn’t expected to see her father, let alone have Magnus talking to him for so long.

She mused, Isn’t Magnus here to cut ties with Father? Why it so quiet? Could something have happened to him?

Meanwhile, Ezra’s words finally pulled Magnus out of his thoughts inside the room. He sneered and spoke up, “Father, you’ve misunderstood. Hattie and I came here for two reasons–to clear up things about Mom and the Zelinsky family and to completely cut ties with the family. From here on out, we go our separate ways.”

Ezra didn’t react or show any signs of anger.

Magnus continued, “The Zelinsky family will never accept me. The stab earlier was just me wanting the truth. Thanks for being honest. As for being the heir or even president, that’s not for me.”

Magnus didn’t respond, instead standing up. “I need to leave. Hattie’s probably waiting for me. By the way, someone from the Lenoir family of Yeringham is here to see you. You can’t turn him away.”

Ezra smiled, knowing he didn’t need an immediate answer from Magnus. All he had to do was watch and see if Magnus would follow through on his words.

As soon as Magnus stepped outside, Hattie hurried over. “How did it go?”

Magnus didn’t answer her directly. He turned to Quintus. “Your turn.”

Without missing a beat, Quintus barged into the room. Ignoring the mayor’s presence, he shouted, “Zelinsky, where did you take my father? Why have we lost contact with him?”

“Don’t be rude!” Rudy quickly signaled the bodyguards.

Six guards sprang into action, aiming their guns at Quintus. They hadn’t fought him yet but could sense his strength and didn’t want to risk a confrontation.

“Don’t be rash,” Ezra stated, raising his hand to signal the guards to stop. He then waved off Rudy and the others, ordering them to close the door behind him.

Turning to Quintus, he spoke in a calm tone, “So, you’re General Lenoir’s son. I’ve heard of you–strong military background, solid character, a real standout.”

Quintus wasn’t impressed. “Don’t try to butter me up. I’m not falling for that. Where’s my dad?”

Despite the sharpness and fury in his voice, his fists were clenched but resting at his sides.
