Chapter 2202 The Mayorâs BrotherâinâLaw
âWolf Warrior Unit?â Ezra couldnât help but sneer when he heard the name. âSure, it was the most powerful and prestigious troop in Chanaca under Artemis. Now that heâs dead, itâll be forgotten. Only the troops loyal to the new president will make any real impact going forward.â
âStop rambling and just get to the point! Iâm not Magnus. Donât talk to me about that stuffâjust tell me where my father is, or Iâll make you regret it!â Quintus snapped, his patience running thin.
Ezra raised an eyebrow and glanced at the time. âSeems like youâre not on my side. Fine, then we donât have much to discuss.â
With that, he turned and began walking away to another door.
âNot so fast!â Quintus charged at him, throwing a punch.
Without caring about the man in front of him or the consequences, Quintus just wanted an answer. Heâd given Ezra a chance, and now it was time to back up his warning.
Yet Ezra, a calm and collected middleâaged man, effortlessly caught Quintusâ fist with one hand,
Quintus froze, stunned. He hadnât put his full strength behind the punch, but the fact that Ezra caught it so easily left him speechless.
He hadnât expected Magnus to be weak, but his father? That was a different story.
âMagnus really is pathetic,â Quintus muttered. Then he asked, âWhy does your energy feel so similar to mine?â
Ezra shrugged, shaking off Quintusâ hand. âI donât have time to chat. Iâm in a rush. As for your father, heâll show up soon enough.â
As the mayor of Zovince, Ezra knew Quintus wouldnât let him go without saying something worthwhile.
Sure enough, after hearing that, Quintus paused, then spat out, âD*mn! So many hidden fighters in Chanaea!â
As he made his way
â he found Hattie tending to Magnus wound.
âMagnus, what happened? Did your dad do this?â Quintus asked.
Hattie had just asked the same thing, but Magnus still hadnât answered. She observed him.
Magnus just smiled. âLetâs go.â
As they turned to leave, they found Chiara, Megan, and a group of fighters blocking their path.
The siblings quickly noticed that all the Zelinsky familyâs fighters were present except for Aiden. They exchanged a glance, thinking, Emmanuel took out Birch, but where is Aiden?
Chiara snapped, âMagnus, you worked with Emmanuel to kill my husband. Youâve walked straight into a trap. Youâre not leaving the Zelinsky family today!â
She turned to the fighters and ordered, âCome on, get rid of them!â

âFinally, the fun part!â Quintus grinned, eager for a figh, even if he still didnât know where his dad was.
Hattie felt a knot in her stomach. She and Magnus werenât skilled in combat, and with his injury, she was worried about getting out safely.
In the tense moment, someone quickly approached and called out, âStop! The patriarch ordered that no one harm Mr. Magnus. He is now to be treated as a member of the Zelinsky family.â
âWhat?!â The simple words carried heavy meaning.
Chiara and Meganâs expressions soured, disbelief written all over their faces. Could it be that Maxwell needed to die in vain?
Hattie exchanged a confused glance with Magnus. She was sharp enough to sense that Magnus had made some sort of deal with their father.
âHattie, letâs go,â Magnus stated, his tone serious. He leaned on her shoulder and limped away from the Zelinsky family.
Chiara bit her lip, watching them go with a look of mixed emotions.
Meanwhile, Ezra made his way to a car parked at a different entrance of the Zelinsky Residence. Keeping a low profile, he was alone with just his driver, Aiden.
Before long, they arrived at the National Treasury Building in Zovince.
Though it was after hours, Catherine was still at her desk, working away with her reading glasses perched on her nose.
The phone rang.
âEzra, youâre here!â Catherine greeted him warmly.
âYes, Catherine, we can head out now,â Ezra replied.
âGreat!â She said as she made her way downstairs and into the car.
Though they were siblings, they looked more like mothers and sons, with Catherine exuding a nurturing, motherly vibe.
âLetâs go.
Iâll keep you company on your visit to your brotherâinâlaw.â Catherine smiled kindly
âDoes Teddy know?â Ezra asked, raising an eyebrow.
âI havenât told him. Honestly, he doesnât need to know,â Catherine responded casually.
Later, she added, âTeddy agreed that once I became president, heâd handle Chanaeaâs business landscape while the Zelinsky family would maintain the political scene. Weâll work together to create a new era.â
Ezra nodded in approval. âSmart, but doesnât he worry that all the power will fall into our hands?â
âTeddy isnât narrowâminded. He doesnât care about the traditional idea of inheritance; besides, he doesnât have a son. He understands that the era is all about cooperation. One force alone canât do it all,â Catherine explained.

Ezra nodded, impressed by her reasoning.

Catherine went on, âOur real challenge is Ethan. Masonâs a relative of ours, so we should try to win him over and strategize together.â
Ezra agreed, his mind already working through the possibilities.
The car soon pulled up to a secluded building in Zone
This was clearly a secret meeting. Bodyguards stood watch inside and outside, their presence intimidating.
After they exited the car, a man in a suit greeted them warmly, followed by a maid.
âMs. Zelinsky, Mr. Zelinsky, welcome! Please, come in!â The group ushered them inside with hospitality.
The courtyard was lined with blossom trees, giving the place a peaceful and serene feel.
They were led inside a large Shoiyaâstyle room where two men were sipping tea.
Though they were brothers, their appearances and energy were vastly different. Anyone who didnât know them would never guess they were related.
âOh, Ezra, your brotherâinâlaw is here too?â Catherine smiled first, breaking the tension.
She had the role of setting the mood since the family dynamic was strained.
âMs. Zelinsky, I invited Yorick to join us. Itâs been a while since we all gathered together,â Mason replied, smiling innocently. He wore thick glasses and had a slightly naive charm. As the Secretary of Agriculture, he dealt with farmers and had a straightforward, simple side.
âHi, Yorick,â Ezra called out awkwardly.
Yorick glanced at him, his expression distant. He didnât respond warmly, instead bluntly saying, âIâm not your brotherâinâlaw anymore. Iâm a Shoiya person nowâ
