Chapter 2206 Calm Before the Storm!

“Quintus…” Libby watched his retreating back, a hint of disappointment in her expression.

She just couldn’t understand–why did Quintus always reject her so harshly?

Libby sighed to herself. She had heard that men liked beautiful women–the more attractive and curvier, the better. Maybe she needed to change her style to get Quintus‘ attention…

Meanwhile, Quintus led his team to Ken’s residence, only to find the place much quieter than expected.

“Where is everyone?” Quintus, always hot–tempered, immediately grabbed Ken by the collar. “Didn’t Mackenzie tell you to gather the West End representatives? Where are they?”

“Calm down, General Quintus! Let me explain!” Ken quickly

ised his hands, signaling for him to hold off.

“Hmph, then start talking!” Quintus warned. “I don’t have Mackenzie’s patience. You already betrayed Teddy Tanner once–what’s stopping you from betraying Mackenzie next?”

Solana, who Emmanuel had sent to assist Quintus, couldn’t help but smirk. For a guy who looked like a brute, Quintus actually had some sharp instincts.

There was an old saying–betray someone once, and no one will ever trust you again. Even though Ken had ultimately helped their side, he had switched loyalties so many times along the way that it was impossible to tell where his true allegiance lay.

Ken gave a bitter smile. “General Quintus, do you think I’m an idiot? Now that Tanner knows I’ve turned against him, he’ll stop at nothing to eliminate me. My only chance of survival is by sticking with Ms. Quillen!”

“You what?! You wanna ‘stick‘ to Mackenzie?” Quintus‘ expression darkened as he yanked Ken closer.

Ken turned pale with fear.

Fortunately for Ken, Jeff was right behind him. She quickly stepped in to explain. “General Quintus, you’ve got it all wrong! Ken didn’t mean it that way! Do you think he’d dare make a move on Ms. Quillen?”

“Hmph, he wouldn’t dare. I was just giving him a scare,” Quintus finally let go, laughing before returning to his usual intimidating glare. “Enough nonsense. Get those representatives together. I’m responsible for. escorting all of you safely to Zovince so you can vote for Mackenzie!”

“We’re definitely voting for her, but the problem is–will we even survive the trip?” Ken cut straight to the point. “Do you think it was easy for me to convince these representatives to come here? The real concern is whether they’ll even make it alive!”

Quintus narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean by that?”

“There are two problems,” Ken answered without hesitation. “I delayed gathering everyone because I was waiting for Mackenzie to send protection. Now that you’re here to escort us to Zovince, that issue is solved. But getting the representatives to my place safely? That’s a whole different problem.”

“You don’t understand, General,” Ken explained further. “The Five Poison Sect may be wiped out, but over the years, Tanner has built an extensive network of loyal enforcers. They might not be strong enough to go against you, but assassinating a few businessmen? That’s ridiculously easy.”

Jeff nodded in agreement. “That’s right! And even if Teddy’s men aren’t enough, he has the money to hire assassins. You know how rugged the terrain is in the West End. If Ken gathers the representatives and half of them get killed on the way, you wouldn’t be too surprised, would you?”

Quintus scowled. “So what, am I supposed to send men to personally escort every single representative here?”

“I’m afraid you’ll have to do so, General Quintus,” Ken said. “You’ll need to personally escort each representative from their respective cities. That way, we can prevent them from traveling alone through the mountain roads. There are still four days left until the election–we should have enough time.”

“D*mn it! You guys really love working me to the bone!” Frustrated, Quintus punched a nearby stone pillar in Ken’s mansion, shattering it instantly.

Ken flinched violently, trembling in fear, but still mustered the courage to ask, “So, General Quintus, what do you think?”

“What do I think? Do I look like Magnus Zelinsky to you? I don’t have that many clever ideas. If you say it’s doable, then quit wasting time and get moving!” Quintus barked.

“Yes, yes!” Ken stammered, properly intimidated.

Despite his fiery temper, Quintus was a capable leader. Wasting no time, he set off with Ken to carry out the plan. By the end of the day, they had successfully retrieved several representatives, and everything had gone smoothly.

Meanwhile, back in Zovince, Emmanuel and Mackenzie received updates from West End. Even though everything seemed peaceful, neither of them felt reassured.

“What’s on your mind?” Emmanuel asked. He could tell from her serious expression that she was worried about something–most likely the same thing he was thinking about.

“I’m worried about Tanner’s strategy,” Mackenzie said, her voice laced with concern. “I’ve spent the entire day running the numbers and analyzing the situation. With the West End representatives on our side, I might have a slight lead in votes now. That means Tanner doesn’t need to cause mass casualties–he only needs to eliminate a handful of key people to flip the results in his favor.”

Emmanuel nodded. “So, you’re concerned that while things are quiet in the West End, Nuthana might erupt into chaos?”

“Exactly,” Mackenzie confirmed. “And especially since my grandfather is leading our side there, I’m worried he might be in danger.”

“Relax,” Emmanuel reassured her. “I already sent Albin to protect them, and Eve is also in Nuthana. Your grandfather will be fine. Besides, he’s been through more storms than any of us–he knows how to handle

himself.”

Mackenzie finally cracked a small smile. “You’re right.”

“I’m leading the Nuthana representatives into Zovince now,” he announced,

“Grandpa? Why earlier than planned?” she asked, surprised.

“Haha! You were worried Tanner would try something, right? So, we leaked false information that we’d arrive tomorrow, but we’re actually moving a day ahead to catch them off guard!” Terence’s voice brimmed with satisfaction.

Same as always. Mackenzie had heard that confident laugh all her life, and it told her everything she needed to know he had things firmly under control.

There was nothing else to say, so she simply replied, “Alright, Grandpa. Emmanuel and I will be waiting for you in Zovince. We’ll make sure you get a proper welcome.”

“Good! See you soon!” Terence sounded eager. Even at his age, he was still playing a key role in shaping the nation’s fate–he wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.

After hanging up, he turned to Frederick. “Tell everyone–it’s time to head to the airport!”

“Yes, sir!” Frederick responded with excitement.

He had now become an indispensable member of the Terence Group, acting as Terence’s right–hand man for this operation.

As for Shane, though he had returned to help, he had spent too much time in Eldoria, distracted by a certain beauty and trying to marry into the Toma family. Unlike Frederick, he hadn’t built much influence in Yeringham. Now that he was back, he was merely playing the role of an enforcer–and Frederick’s second–in–command.

With an important mission ahead, Frederick naturally assigned him tasks to carry out immediately.
