Aora continued backing away, step by step. Though his pride wouldn’t let him admit it, his body betrayed his fear. “You’re not fooling me, old man! That’s just a prop! I don’t believe it’s real, and I definitely don’t believe you’d actually blow yourself up!”

“Really? Why are you still backing away?” Terence smirked, taunting him further. “While I hadn’t run into you when you lot tried to massacre my family, I know you were involved. Killing you today would be the least I could do for Alessandra!”

With a wistful sigh, he took a step forward, terrifying Aora into staggering three steps back.

At the back, the Wolf Warrior Unit, led by Eve, witnessed this spectacle with absolute shock.

This was a world–class event–the number–one fighter under Teddy Tanner, a man who had walked through storms of bullets without blinking, was actually retreating in fear–from an old man!

Azure clenched his jaw, deeply shaken. He knew that his leader wasn’t actually afraid of the bombs–it was the look in Terence’s eyes.

Because when a man no longer feared death, even the gods had to tread carefully.

“Hmph, you’ve got balls, I’ll give you that, old man. But I’m done with you now. We’re leaving!” With a wave of his hand, Aora leaped away in retreat, Azure following right behind.

Only then did Eve and the Wolf Warriors charge forward, securing the area.

Frederick let out a long exhale, finally daring to speak. “Old Mr. Quillen, how could you pull a stunt like that? If Ms. Quillen or Emmanuel finds out, they’ll be furious and worried sick!”

“Haha, I’m just messing with them. These are all fake!” said Terence, casually pulling his coat back around himself and chuckling mischievously like a child caught playing pranks.

But whether or not the explosives were real–only he knew.

Regardless, their objective had been achieved. Tanner’s lackeys had been delayed long enough. Even if they tried to redirect their forces to go after the Nuthana representatives now, it would be far too late.

Once those representatives reached Zovince and united with Emmanuel, any attempts at an ambush would be nearly impossible. And time was no longer on their side.

“Aora, what do we do now?” Azure asked, clearly unsettled. Their entire plan had hinged on securing Nuthana–but now, they had failed spectacularly. If they returned empty–handed, Teddy would lose his mind.

“Don’t worry! Nuthana may have slipped through our fingers, but we still have the West End! We have two whole days and three nights left!” Aora, his hopes still high, grinned wickedly. “The Five Poison Sect may be gone, but plenty of bandit lords in the West End are furious about it. If we throw some money around and give them the right target–say, a few of Mackenzie Quillen’s representatives–they’ll gladly take care of our dirty work!”

Azure immediately caught on. They had spent a good amount of time building contacts in the West End. With the right incentive, they could still turn the tide of the election. If brute force had failed, then it was time to let greed do the job.

At this moment, in the West End….

After two days of hard work, Quintus had successfully gathered almost all of the local representatives.

“General Quintus, should we take a civilian flight to Zovince or use a private helicopter?”

Ken, staying close to Quintus all this while, had remained on high alert despite the past two days of relative peace.

He knew all too well how Teddy and his men operated. They were ruthless, willing to go to any lengths, and there was no way they’d simply allow them to leave the West End for Zovince without a fight.

“We’ll take a private helicopter from your mansion’s helipad,” Quintus answered without hesitation.

He had already received confidential information from Mackenzie–Nuthana’s representatives had left ahead of schedule and were expected to arrive in Zovince within a day. That meant the West End representatives had to move fast!

A commercial flight had a fixed schedule, making it easy for accidents to be arranged. A private helicopter, however, could take off at any moment, making it much harder for Teddy to stage an attack or hijack their transport.

“Why take off from my place?” Ken frowned. “Why not have the Wolf Warrior Unit send their helicopter to Gamwell? The last two representatives are in that city, and we can pick them up before heading to Zovince.”

“What are you so afraid of?” Quintus smirked but didn’t explain further. “I have my men here to protect you. Who would dare come after you now? Just get your sister–in–law to prepare a grand feast–we should at least let the representatives enjoy a nice meal before departure. Basic hospitality, you understand?”

Ken sighed, realizing there was no changing Quintus‘ mind. He reluctantly agreed, bowing to the sheer force of the man’s personality.

Meanwhile, Solana, who had been following along, chuckled softly. She knew exactly what Quintus was planning–after all, they had come up with the plan together.

Since it was now confirmed that Teddy’s men had failed to assassinate the Nuthana representatives, there was no doubt they would go all in and make one last desperate attempt in the West End.

Likewise, the Great Four Envoys‘ top assassins–Aora and Azure–would be heading this way.

Those two had left a trail of blood behind them, massacring members of the Summerton family, the Quillen family, and Alessandra Cadigan. They had even slaughtered countless Wolf Warrior Unit soldiers.

And Rhett? He was barely clinging to life because of them. Now that the Five Poison Sect had been wiped out, Aora had to die next. Quintus, as the newly appointed Holy Guardian, had inherited Rhett’s mantle- meaning it was his duty to avenge him.

By deliberately taking off from Ken’s mansion, they were baiting Aora to come to them–it was a trap.

“Really? Did Quintus really do that?”

Though Mackenzie was frustrated by what she heard, she wasn’t entirely surprised.

She was angry because Quintus and Solana were acting on impulse instead of focusing on the bigger picture.

But she wasn’t shocked because she knew them too well. They were both deeply loyal people. Of course, they would try to use this chance to avenge Rhett.

“Yes, Ms. Quillen. What do I do now?!” Ken couldn’t stop panicking. “Once Aora gets here, I’ll be the first he kills!”

“Alright, don’t panic, Ken. I hear you. I’ll figure something out,” Mackenzie promised and then gave Ken her solution.

Finally, Ken breathed easier.

“Remember,” Mackenzie warned him before hanging up. “No one else can know about this–especially not Quintus.”

“Understood, Ms. Quillen! You can count on me!”

Ken might have been a slippery character, but he wasn’t stupid. He knew that if Mackenzie’s strategy leaked, it would completely ruin the plan–and might even backfire.

After hanging up, Mackenzie immediately headed to see Hattie. She had to rush to give Ken his special delivery.
