Anna’s feet pounded the ground as she ran, Ethan in tow. Her heart raced, the fear of being caught still gnawing at her.

When she glanced behind and saw no pursuers, she let out a relieved breath. But that brief calm quickly dissolved into tension.

She had felt the power of the figure in the red cloak. Even if she and Solana fought side by side, they wouldn’t stand a chance. And then there was the one in the black cloak–his presence alone sent a chill through her veins.

Anna hadn’t seen the Holy King before, but with her Dark Night Islands background, she knew exactly who he was.

One glance from him could condemn a soul. Only someone at the Sage level could radiate that kind of darkness.

Now that they weren’t being chased, the truth was clear: Solana and Mackenzie had blocked their path.

They must have reached some sort of agreement to stop the fight.

Even though Anna had pieced it all together, there was no turning back. She had to get this information to Commander Lowe and bring Ethan to Congress.

Emmanuel, stationed at the front gate, saw the message and his face immediately shifted. He spun on his heel, his mind set on finding Mackenzie.

But Salem wasn’t finished. After regrouping, he launched another assault on the Zovince gates.

He opened his eyes, and his voice rang out, strong and clear. “Kill! We kill together! We will not let the enemy set foot in Zovince! Protect Zovince! Defend Chanaea!”

With no enemies chasing them, Anna completed her mission and brought the wounded Ethan back to Congress.

“Mr. Hale, what happened?”

Inside Congress, the highest–ranking officials of Zovince had gathered.

Though they had no command over the troops, they rushed to Ethan when he arrived.

“It’s nothing… nothing at all.”

Ethan brushed off their concern. With Anna’s help, he regained his composure and moved confidently into the chamber. He stood tall and issued orders, his voice unshaken.

“Quickly, send Northern Region commander Santiago and Tocvale commander Dragonicus to Zovince. We need them to restore order!”

Once the operation was underway, the Northern Region quickly received its orders from Congress.

But Santiago wasn’t stationed in the Northern Region. He was already commanding his forces near Fishing Isle, off Chanaea’s northeastern coast, in talks with the Shoiyans.

“Ha! Commander Adkins, this is all just a misunderstanding!” General Matsumoto of Shoiya chuckled loudly from the temporary negotiation vessel.

“We had no intention of taking the island. We only came to observe. As for the dispute, we can keep discussing it–just put it on hold for now!”

Another round of the same tired excuses.

Santiago stepped off the negotiation vessel and boarded a small boat, heading back to Chanaea’s warship.

Just then, one of his subordinates came running to him. “Commander Adkins, President Hale has issued a direct order from Congress. The Northern Region must deploy troops into Zovince and crush the rebellion immediately!”

Santiago’s expression hardened.

It wasn’t just him–Northern Region forces had already been positioned outside to prepare for a potential conflict in the northeast. Even with the fastest units, it would take at least thirty–six hours to reach Zovince.

But Santiago knew that even with 5,000 Wolf Warriors, taking on nearly 100,000 enemy forces would be tough. Reinforcements were a must.

As Shoiya’s fleet began to leave, Santiago boarded Chanaea’s warship.

What he didn’t expect was what happened next–missiles began slamming into their fleet.

Chanaea’s warships immediately fired back, taking down the incoming missiles.

“Commander Adkins, we’ve detected unknown warships near our fleet. They’re attacking us!”

“What?!”

Santiago’s brow furrowed deeply.

The missiles that had just hit weren’t from Shoiya’s warships. Could it be that other nations had forces hidden nearby, waiting to ambush him? Was someone trying to set him up, to kill him?

Which country would have the audacity to do such a thing?

“Get a full scan on the enemy now! Activate all air and naval units. Hit them back with everything we’ve got!” Santiago barked, his voice unwavering.

Though a commander in Artemis‘ ranks, Santiago showed no fear. The enemy had fired first. Now, he would strike back with overwhelming force.

“Yes, Commander Adkins!”

His subordinate immediately passed the orders along.

Before their retaliation could even begin, dozens of small, fast boats rushed toward the fleet.
