“Caroline,” came Sonia’s voice. She had come back with some food.

“I made it a bit bland, so I’m not sure if you’ll find it okay.”

She looked at Sonia and said, “Ms. Weiss is an internationally famous playwright. Her coming to Easton to find an actress for ‘Daughter of the Sea‘ is a good opportunity for you.”

Caroline waved her hand. “I’m sure you know that Daphne isn’t suited to this role. She doesn’t have the experience of being in theater.

“Unless Ms. Weiss doesn’t care about this script, she wouldn’t be silly enough to let Daphne be the leading female.”

She continued, “I’ve also looked it up. You were in theater, and your life experiences are very similar to this character’s.

“I believe acting will come naturally to you when you have the same emotional journey. Your only issue is Sarcozian. How’s your aptitude in the language?”

Beside her, Dolly shot her a look. “Avery, you seem to be in a good mood today.”

“Of course I am. You’ll be accompanying Marietta to Easton to audition for the lead female role. This is your first time working with a renowned playwright. I’m so happy for you.”

Avery swirled the wine in her glass. She looked at Dolly and smiled insincerely at her.

Dolly took a sip of wine. “It’s all thanks to you and your fervent support. Otherwise, I would never have gotten the chance to work with Ms. Weiss.”
