Chapter 503
Bogus Billionaire
By the time Caroline turned for a look, the woman was already gone. She couldnât help but ask a nearby staff member, âWho was that just now?â
The staff member scratched their head awkwardly. âSheâs one of the selection committee members.
Sorry, Iâm bad with faces, so I donât know which judge she is.â
Caroline smiled and said, âThank you.â
She didnât ask the staff member any more questions. Once they got to the seats, she went to the area reserved for managers under the staffâs memberâs guidance.
There were only a few people there. They were probably the managers of the minor celebrities.
When they saw Carolineâs unfamiliar face, they didnât come forward to greet her.
Caroline didnât feel like exchanging pleasantries, either. She checked her phone instead. Other than a message from Cheryl, no one had tried to contact her.
Caroline hadnât even told Gwen about the divorce. After all, Gwen was in a bad place in her love life now, too.
Besides, because of her parents, she had always been more sensitive when it came to romantic relationships. She changed her mind very easily when there were small incidents.
She hoped that Gwen wouldnât be prejudiced against Sean because Kirk had tricked her.
From an outsiderâs point of view, Caroline really hoped that Gwen and Sean could get together.
After all, Sean seemed like a reliable sort.
But who could be sure about these things? Caroline had been sure that Kirk was a good man, too.
But in the endâ¦
Caroline shook her head. Why was she thinking about him again? Hadnât she said that she wouldnât do it anymore?
Right then, someone sat next to her. Caroline instinctively looked up. When she did, her gaze froze.
The person sitting next to her was the man she had been thinking about just a second ago. Kirk was wearing a mask and a black coat. His legs reached out casually to lay atop hers.
Caroline got goosebumps all over.
Ever since she had found out that Kirk was Eddyâs second uncle, she had been trying her best to avoid seeing him faceâtoâface.
Now that he was sitting right beside her, all her resentment and anger rushed to the surface.
Caroline wanted to hit him, pinch him, scold him ⦠But all of these feelings sank into the abyss when she saw the dark shadows under his eyes.
Caroline slowly closed her eyes and used the coldest weapon in her arsenalâignorance.
She didnât want to get into a fight with him here. There was no point in it. Besides, she didnât want to argue with him anymore. After all, they would get divorced soon.
This was better. They could part ways peacefully.
Caroline had been tricked once and wasted her youth. However, she had also learned a lesson.
Luckily, she had only wasted a year when she had been tricked this time.
Compared to the eight years before, that was a great improvement, wasnât it?
Thinking about this, the selfâdeprecation in Carolineâs eyes became deeper.
Kirk could feel Caroline struggle less under the weight of his legs.
The joy he had felt upon seeing her melted away. After so much time knowing her, Kirk had a full understanding of Caroline.
If Caroline fought back hard, that meant that he still had a chance. But she didnât even struggle now. That meant that she had lost all hope.
Kirk clenched a fist at his side.
More people gradually streamed into the theater. They were all people who were involved in choosing the cast.
Those who sat in Kirk and Carolineâs area were unimportant audience members, so no one paid them any mind.
Thus, no one noticed anything strange about Caroline and Kirk.
