Chapter 72
Bogus Billionaire
Brieâs expression shifted. âI canât believe youâre still being stubborn, Caroline. Let me ask you, is the ceramic vase you gave Mr. Morrison Senior really yours?â
âWhy does it matter?â
Brie smirked. âBecause the vase isnât even yours. It belongs to Eddyâs second uncle! You passed off his gift as your own because he didnât attend the birthday banquet! Shame on you!â
The spectators outside the door included many people from wealthy social circles. News about Carolineâs gift had already spread like wildfire among them. Their expressions shifted after hearing that it was a scam.
âI knew it. Thereâs no way a small family like the Evans family can get a ceramic vase.â
âSo, she stole Eddyâs second uncleâs gift?â
âHis second uncle? I heard that heâs very powerful. If he finds out about this, things definitely wonât end well for Caroline â¦â
Remaining silent, Caroline narrowed her eyes, looking coldly at Brie.
Brie had found out that the ceramic vase belonged to Eddyâs second uncle and barged into the hospital to make a big scene so that she could publicly embarrass Caroline.
Brie didnât care if Caroline was disgraced, but she couldnât let Kirkâs reputation be ruined.
Caroline smirked and laughed. âThe fact that heâs willing to give the vase to Grandpa in my name means that heâs fond of me. Are you upset because youâre jealous?â
Carolineâs words struck a nerve, making Brie angry. Brie yelled, âWhat a joke! Why would I be jealous of you? Besides, you canât prove that his second uncle gave it to you voluntarily.â
The lackeys that Brie had brought along began mocking Caroline.
âSheâs just flattering herself. She has the guts to boast like this because she knew Eddyâs second uncle wouldnât attend the birthday banquet.â
The sounds of laughter stopped abruptly. Everyone turned around and saw Jude walking in.
Surrounded by bodyguards. The sight dumbfounded them.
âMr. Morrison Senior, what are you doing here? Ene asked tumedy waking up to hep the oid men Jude didnât even look at Bre. Instead, he accrsachet Cardline anxiously asking. âCame. I heard you conaimed your endte STid were hospitalized. This is such an important matter Why didnât you tell me?

Jude looked down at Carolines ankte womed. âAre you sure youâre okay?

When Jude saw this, he laughed and said. âSo thatâs now it is. You realy scared me. Came Then, he turned around and locked at Bre asking. âWhat are you people making a fics about I could hear all of you from afect Brie bit her lic, mustering the courage to explain herself. âMr. Worrison Senior, accidentally discovered that the ceramic vase Carpine gave you didnât belong to her. It belongs to Eddyâs second unce.â
Jude raised an eyebrow. He had a stem expression, devoid of the kindness Ted STown Carpine. âWhat are you trying to say?
Brie explained anxiously. âMr. Morrison Senior, sheâs passing of someone elseâs git as rets. Sheâs a deceitful person. If we donât expose her lies, she wonât change her ways Judeâs expression was as dark as night. He sat down on the couch with Carpineâs reb. He stomped his walking cane to the ground with a loud bang.
âEddyâs second unde decided this himself. You stuboonly wouldnât let Caroline off the hook at my birthday banquet. So Eddyâs second uncle came up with a compromise. Yet youâre bringing it up again today to cause Carbine trouble.
âIt seems that I misjudged your change in attitude a few days ago. Ws. Colire. You stil donât know your mares.
Brieâs face tumed pale as she tried to explain, saying âMr. Morison Senior, -tâs not what you think. I was just afraid that Eddyâs second uncle had been deceived, so I was desperate to ask Caroline for an explanation.
Jude smiled. He countered. âLet me ask you this in rear. What right do you have to worry about these things?
Brie blinked and answered. âMy right as his fiancés, of course.*
Rumors about Brie and Kirkâs marriage had been spreading in social circles for a long time. Now that the parties had validated these rumors, everyone couldnât help pricking their ears, wanting to hear the more exciting news.
Standing beside Jude, Carolineâs expression shifted slowly, and she stared at the old man in disbelief.
Jude chuckled. âSince when were you his fiancée?â He wasnât aware that something like this had happened.
Brie explained, âDidnât you agree to my request at your birthday banquet?â
Jude frowned, trying to recall their conversation. Finally, he said. âI was referring to visiting your home to appreciate your paintings. What else would I be referring to?â
â
Brieâs face turned even paler from shock, but she quickly said. âBut at your birthday banquet you let me into the main hall â* That was an unprecedented privilege. Sheâd thought that it was an acknowledgment in disguise.
Jude explained reasonably. âEddyâs second uncle is married, so your engagement with him is null and void. To make up for it, I asked the butler to let you into the main banquet hall.â
Brie was stunned. She thought, âHow could it be? How could Eddyâs second uncle be married?â
The people whoâd come here to watch the drama enjoyed Brieâs misfortune. The tables had tumed, and Brie had become a laughingstock.
Looking at the distraught Brie. Jude sighed and said, âCarrie, let me take
