The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 149
The Alpha & Beta's Regret
Jo-anne POV
Sheâd not known about Luci becoming fully realised apparently happened while she was helping Piper and Harper. Something she had been happy to do and watching Harperâs wolf eyes go from white to dark grey with those golden flecks, had been a blessing, was thankful that she had been able to do that.
Seems Hannah had already foreseen it, perhaps even Heath as well, when shed been just a baby. Sheâd liked hearing Cooper tell Piper he could smell her, shed no longer smelled like Brad himself, but what she truly smelled like.
Soft and gentle at that. No longer did she need that protective charm.
It had truly been a beautiful moment to watch Brad and Piper, his wolf and hers, as they realised they no longer had to fear for her safety, not for their children either. She was glad to have helped. Exhausted her quite a bit; that had never happened before.
It had been just after Bradley had gotten off the phone with young Brandon, that she had felt something coming from outside and looked at the door, looked at West, who sighed
âSomething is going on, the whole packhouse shook, several times.â He told her.
âItâs Luci, Iâd say out of control, likely just found out the truth about those two she wolves.â Sheâd pushed herself up off the couch and headed for the door as tired as she was, needed to go and help and she knew it.
West and T.J. had both stepped in front of her âNo.â Theyâd both stated.
Sheâd frowned right at them. âItâs my job.â
âNo itâs not,â T.J. stated flatly.
âIf I can help, I should.â
But neither of them had budged an inch and shed stared them down âDonât make me make you. Try if you must. But I am going, that girl is like I was, has power, is itching to be released and, if not let-out correctly, she could hurt many unwittingly. You didnât want that for me. I donât want that for her.â
âIâm certain Hannah and her sisters have it under control.â West had told her, shed stood and thought about that, then had sighed it was possible he was right. Had been right in fact. Seeing as Selena had blocked her from feeling what was going on out there.
Obviously, Selena, their Goddess, thought that fixing the Whitlock curse was more important to her wolves, than what was going on out there with Luci. One to help verse hundreds possible thousands of Whitlockâs. She didnât like it, wanted to help everyone, but couldnât be everywhere at once.
The doorbell to the room had chimed some time later and
T.J. had answered it, seeing that he was still leaning on it barring her way. It had been Hannah; shed stepped into the room. Looked at Piper and just sighed softly to herself, nodded her head, smiled a little on the relieved side. Then she had turned to Jo-anne, âLucian is a True Triune, fully realised now.â
âYou didnât want my help?â
Your help was needed here. We still have time to contain Lucianâs rage. Please come with me.â Her eyes had moved back to Piper and shed bowed slightly âBlessed be to the Whitlockâs.â and then she had turned and walked from the room.
Jo-anne had followed her and neither West nor T.J. stopped her this time. Sheâd gotten to see the destruction Luci had wrought on those two she-wolves, had known it was coming and there it was. Not a pretty sight to behold.
Had stood there and listened to Hannah tell her that only two of them would return, that they would use all their powers to contain Luci and one of them would be drained completely of their life in doing so.
She knew right away it was going to be Hannah who wasnât coming back. As much as Rafe had known. She was the eldest of the three and would likely protect the others, likely if she already knew one wasnât coming back, had chosen for it to be herself to be sacrificed. Had the responsibility of two younger siblings.
Jo-anne could feel annoyance coming off of Clova. Theyâd just met their kin and though they were unimpressed by the three womenâs interference in stopping Rafe and Jack being separated from Luci years ago. Hearing Hannah tell her this deed would bring them back into the light, something she did want to happen, made her happy; she did not want it at the cost of Hannahâs life.
She knew what her b***d could do, give more power to witches that drank it. She knew if she gave it freely and willingly, they could likely help save all those innocent wolves in that pack, as well as Hannah
It was her call to make, but there was no choice, not really She didnât want her aunt to die, didnât want Luci turning to the darkness within, like her own father had. So, yes, she would give them her b***d, some to each of them just to make sure they were all strong enough, a small vial to be used to help contain the fall out and save lives. She was a healer and if giving her b***d saved nearly 200 wolves and one witchâs life, and a Triune from the darkness, it was worth it.
Not even Clova objected to the idea of it, but they would not let a witch bite them to drain it from them either. They didnât know if even her own kin would be able to stop themselves. That witch of Hendrickâs was supposed to just taste her b***d, but had loved it and tried to drink more and more of it. She did not know if that would happen to her aunts. So, a small vial each was all they would get, it would have to be enough and if not, she had done her best.
West was not at all happy about seeing the pack doctor draw her b***d and stopper three vials, give them back to her before leaving, âJo-anne?â hed questioned. With a frown marring his handsome face.
âI give it willingly, for a sole purpose. I trust that it will be used for that and that alone, if not. I likely have the power to strip them of their magic and will do so.â
Heâd stood staring at her now, shed not told him what shed
done to that other witch. He watched her get changed into those royal robes of hers, and she could see the real concern in him.
Sheâd walked over to him and slid her arms around him. âIT be fine. Addison is not here yet. Iâve seen the six of us all together. So I also believe what will happen tonight is going to work.â
âIâm going to lose you.â heâd murmured and pulled her tighter into his chest âTo your witchâs line.â
âNo, youâre not.â Sheâd told him âOnce this is all sorted out, Iâll just be your Luna once more.â
âI donât think it is going to be that simple, sweetheart.â Heâd sighed heavily.
Jo-anne looked up at him, reached up and kissed him softly, âItâs not me that will rule.â
âWho then?â he murmured.
âOur little Anna. She is all witch.â She told him softly âShe glows with power already. Mother sees it too.â Shed hugged him âWill come into her true power at 18 like all witches do. Likely reopen the light witches kingdom.â
She saw him frown now, knew he didnât want to lose their little girl. Smiled up at him âDonât you worry, there will be a witch portal in our home, for us to use to see her all the time.â
âDoesnât help me,â he muttered.
âSheâs only a few months old, weâll love and cherish her, sheâll be all light and joy, just like I see the twins are.â
âI donât want to know that.â He muttered instantly.
Jo-anne chuckled âThat is not what I meant, they are not seen as her Mates. They just glow like she does to me is all.â hugged him again âI have to go and help.â
âYou look good.â He murmured softly and reached out himself to pull her hood up and on, fix it properly and smiled down at her âGo and save them, then come back to me.â
âI will, I promise.â
âYou, my Queen.â He really smiled at her now. âWill wear a crown for me in our bed and only a crown.â
Jo-anne snorted, fully amused by his words. She knew Jonathon, her father liked it when her mother wore her royal tiara and nothing else.
âI havenât got a crown.â She
teased him.
âOh, you will have. If your aunts donât give you one, Iâll have one made for you,â hed stated and smacked her right on the backside as she left the room. She could feel his and Voltâs concern for them but had seen past this moment.
She had faith that whatever Hannah and her sisters were about to do, was going to work. Stepped outside and looked up at the moon as the clouds parted and prayed it would all go well and shed be able to help. She could have sworn that moon glowed just that little bit brighter than a moment ago.
She made her way to Hannahâs cottage and there they all were waiting on her. She watched them all bow to her and sighed. Took Hannahâs hand and they were gone clipped away to where she didnât know, somewhere in the woods.
Jo-anne gave them all a vial of her b***d, never thought shed ever give her b***d to any witch out there.
âOnly for this moment and no other.â All three of them stated and drank the contents.
Then Aaliyah and Giannah were gone blipped themselves away âWhere are we?â Jo-anne asked
âOn the outskirts of the Wolf Valley Pack. Iâll be leaving you here. When I tell you to focus your mind on saving the innocent, I and my sisters will provide the spell, connect you to it. Youâre going to feel weird, to say the least, and likely white light will spread out around you. Donât fight it, just let it happen. That is all I can tell you. Youâll likely understand by natural instinct you might feel a push and pull of our powers as well.â She was told. âThat will kind of feel like standing at the beach with the water rushing to meet your feet and then draining away.â
She was given a large amethyst Geod sphere all polished and smooth bar a large jagged crevice of natural crystal that could be seen. Fit into the palm of her hand and was quite heavy. In her other hand was placed a large snowflake pendulum âDo not let them go. They will help protect you and ground you.â
Hannah touched a finger to Jo-anneâs forehead and then to her own and she saw a thin thread of light appear and connect them, felt heat inside her mind and then Hannah touched her forehead again and stated âAaliyah.â And flicked her hand off and away from Jo-anne and another of those thin light threads appeared and then shot off into the darkness of the night. She repeated it once more, stated âGiannah.â And a third light thread was sent off into the darkness. âWe are all now connected, you will feel us, hear us and likely see what I see. It will disconnect when I sever it or if I die.â
âDonât die Hannah.â She muttered and saw the woman smile at her.
âIâll do my very best, your highness, not to.â Then she was just gone and Jo-anne was left standing alone in the darkness of the night in the middle of an unknown forest.
Just waiting it seemed on Luci to show up. She could see all the threads of light attached to her, saw that they appeared to be spread out and she thought it was likely around the corners of the pack they were here to protect.
Saw Luci appear out of nowhere some time later, through Hannahâs eyes, knew they were all seeing it. She watched as Luci looked right at Hannah, saw the black of her Sirenâs eyes and the two green irisâs in each eye, The Triune is here and awake. Giannahâs voice came to her in her mind.
She saw Hannah reach out and try to touch Luci, watched as Luciâs head tilted and she glowed, heard Hannah state âI mean you no harm child. I just want to protect the innocent from your wrath, and will not interfere in your business. Just want to connect you and I to my coven briefly, it will resolve when you are done. No harm will come to you or those who mean you no harm.â
Saw those three eyes move in slightly different directions all at the same time, as she looked about, watched Hannah touch Luciâs forehead only to get growled and hissed at, at the same time, but that was it. Luci did not harm Hannah as she touched her own forehead and then backed away.
