The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 169
The Alpha & Beta's Regret
Rafe POV
He and Jack had not once left their sons sides, they understood their mother and grammy had just suddenly vanished from the pack. They had also not liked it at all, nearly panicked and for the first time since knowing them, and seeing only them as happy little boys, they had seen the two of them both cry.
Both he and Jack had comforted the boys and tried to reassure them that they were okay. The boys didnât really understand how they knew that at all. All the boys knew was that their Mamma felt so very far away from them and they had actually gotten scared about it.
Both fear and sadness had welled in their sons, and he and Jack had pulled them onto their laps and just hugged them. He had told them their Mamma was okay and that the mark on not only his neck but Jackâs proved it to be true. Explained to them that if something really bad happened to their Mamma they would feel it and that mark would go away completely.
This had helped to calm them considerably, though both of the boys had then looked at he and Jacksâ mark every few minutes. Heâd known they were connected to Luci on a deeper, Siren level, as he understood it, and seeing both of their boys eyes change and look just like Luciâs did, had shocked everyone in that room.
Their sons were already fully realised Triunes. Theyâd tried to distract the boys from their worries and thankfully, both Sloan and Eliza had come to his and Jackâs help in trying to take the boys minds off of Luci not being here inside the pack.
They had both shifted into their Kitsune form and let the boys not only get to see something truly amazing but also let them pat their beasts, neither of the boys had seen anything like it and being actively tickled by both the kitsuneâs tails had lifted the boys spirits, made them laugh and brighten up a lot.
They had loved Elizaâs beast the most, her colouring amazed them she was just like their beasts, two different colours all over and they liked that. Once back in human form Eliza had settled them further, she was a good Luna, he realised. Able to do what all Lunaâs do, project calmness.
Jewel had woken up and both Eliza and Conner had let them look down at her âPretty eyes.â Theyâd exclaimed, staring down at the tiny little girl.
Alpha Conner had agreed with them both, and then pointed at Eliza and then Sloan and stated âShe takes after her mother and grandma.â
Rafe had watched the boys both turn and look to Eliza and Sloan, really look at their eyes now, âLike the moon.â Conner had smiled down at the two boys, and ruffled their hair.
âWe like the moon, sheâs pretty.â
Everyone in the room had chuckled just a little as both boys looked back to little Jewel. âPretty like the moon.â Theyâd both smiled down at her and reached out and touched her little head.
It had taken many around them to fully settle the boys as they were now, and he was glad for all of the assistance, thanked them all for helping with the issue. Everyone kind of just waved it off, they all had children and understood the issue and concerns he realised, this was new to he and Jack.
His allied packs were more than just allies, friends and he liked that their friendship extended to their sons, who no one here really knew at all. They were all just sitting around waiting on the outcome of whatever was going on with the women whoâd vanished from the pack.
âI doubt a war will be needed.â Alpha Austin had stated âI think six witches, four of whom have royal b***d, will be more than capable of dealing with that man. Got yourselves one hell of a defence system for all of you now.
Unlikely any of you will see pack attacks once the knowledge gets out.â
He and Jack were really hoping that this was the case, it would make for a much more peaceful life for their four packs. Though he also knew both he and Jack would have liked to have had a piece of Victor for all heâd done.
Harmed their son and tried to take Luci once more. Now also knew that it had been Victor that had also killed Lucian, Luciâs father and his Siren pack.
They could both understand Addisonâs need to kill that man, and knew it was more than their own need. No one had even attempted to deny her that right Austin and Sloan were staying for the full moon, as were both Conner and Elza
Though both Bradley and West had stated that if there was no wat, they would go home to their packs when everyone got back. He knew that West and Terence were happy to fly Bradley, Cooper and Piper home to Helena, though as he sat there watching the boys play peek a boo with little Jewel, under Elâs supervision he was listening to Conner, West, Terence and Bradley all discussing becoming allied 10 the Wandering Moon. Conner was all smiles about it and Eliza didnât seem to mind either. Seems they would all be allied to Conner. He was turning out to be a really good Alpha for that pack
Rafe felt the moment Luci and Addison returned, saw both West and Terence also register it. The twins were gone shot off in the direction of their mother, he knew they could feel exactly where she was, clearly wanted to lay eyes on her, be with her. Jack excused himself and headed off after the boys.
âLuci honey?â Rafe mind-linked right to her.
Iâm alright, mother too. A few wounds but sheâs healed up good as new. Fallon is good and strong!
Is it just the two of you, I didnât sense Hannah and her sisters. Is Jo-anne alright?â he asked. Though it was likely West was already talking to her just like he was Luci.
Yes, Jo-anne is here and unharmed. Hannah and her sisters are still there, helping sort out the mess within the Bloodless Moon.â
âVictor?â he asked finally
âDead, mother disabled him, and we made him lose his head.â
âAlright, as long as you are okay.â
âWe are.â
âJack and the boys are coming to you now.â
1 know, I can feel them. Please tell Allen his Mates are all okay, only mother got injured. No one else.
It was good to see her walk into the packhouse, she was holding little Rafes hand and Addison had Litte Jackâs hand, she looked fine. Jack was walking on the other side of her a hand on the small of her back and Jo-anne walked next to Addison.
He saw West get up and go and hug Jo-anne to him, as tightly as Rafe did Luci himself.
He held her to him, didnât ever want to let her go, to never lose her again. He looked to Addison, knew it wasnât yet over, she still had to go up to Kintla Lake, find her three remaining pack members who still lived in the lake.
Hopefully she would be able to bring them back here to Alariâs lake. Alariâs Siren pack was growing by the day he thought, and it actually made him happy inside to know that.
Alari already had Silla, but would also have three other Sirens from her own fatherâs pack. Would actually be connected to them right away. He knew that Addison had not bled Luci to Orien, shed said as much, so that meant that Luci and her beasts were still a member of Tore Vale Mere. Just born into Nightfall, as Addi had Mated herself to Orien when pregnant with Luci.
Sheâd been born with the Nightfall pack scent, because her mother had it, but she was and always would be the heir to her real fatherâs pack. With Victor dead now, he had less concerns about Luci going to that lake up there to meet the three remaining Sirens and hopefully be able to convince them to come here. To retrieve that Siren Ceremonial Blade that was her birthright, so she could be the Alpha Siren to her own pack here.
âHannah said to tell you sheâll likely bring back wolves in need of a new home.â
âAlright.â He nodded, he would not be rejecting any from that pack. Heard the sadness in her words knew it was likely bad for them all there. âAre you tired honey?â he asked.
âNot really, Hannah and her sisters did most of the work.
Got us there, I only had to finish Victor off and bring three home.â
âAlpha Rafe, Alpha Jack.â It was Jo-anne and he looked at her. ââd be expecting your king, Christian, to portal those in need of sanctuary to willing packs.â
âKing Christian was there?â
âMm,â she nodded âMother andâ she looked at Alpha Austin âThe Wolfen Council informed him of what was going on. He came with a small military force to help. Is cleaning up that pack himself, punishing those that need it with all his authority.â
Rafe stared at her now, it was not often that the King would make an appearance within the human realm, his eyes moved back to Luci, worriedly
âSheâs of my Kingdom, Alpha Rafe. Not at all a concern of the Wolfen King, that was also cleared up.â
âThank youâ both he and Jack stated together.
Jo-anne nodded âWe have to go home, may have wolves requesting sanctuary as well.â Then she turned and walked away with West and Terence. â
Bradley smiled at him. âAll sorted out them, weâll bid you farewell till..â he smiled at the three of them, âThe Luna Ceramony.â
Rafe and Jack nodded âThank you for coming. Sorry if it was a waste of your time.â
âIt was nothing of the sort. Glad to be here, Thank Hannah for us as well.â He nodded âSheâll know what for.â
Rafe nodded, still wasnât in the loop on that, likely wasnât going to be. Whatever had been going on with Piper, which he was certain Jo-anne had fixed, would stay a secret he wasnât going to pry. It was their business.
His eyes moved back to Luci, âI think you and Addi should go and change. I know its early but a rest before another journeyâ He looked to Addi. âWhen Hannah comes back, if you want to go to the lake and sheâs happy to take you there, you should go.â
Rafe saw her just nod but say nothing. Looked more than a little sad and how could she not be after all shed learned this morning, been through as well. Was likely and emotional mess right now.
He watched Luci touch her motherâs arm and they were gone, both the boys as well. Theyâd still been holding on to them, had yet to let go, likely were not going to leave their mothers side in a long while.
âI guess she doesnât need a car anymore,â Jack sighed Rafe knew heâd looked at cars for her last night, was yet undecided, but had a half dozen for her to look at.
âLikely not.â He smiled âshow her anyway, you never know she might not do that all the time.â
He and Jack saw their allied off, and that helicopter headed for Helena, a week of mind-numbing uncertainty and it was all just over in a blink of an eye and none of the Alphaâs to the packs had, had to do anything, just left it up to the women. Theyâd sorted it out all on their own gone off and defeated a savage and come back not even worse for wear.
He organised for the rest of them to have afternoon tea, and found Silla strolling in with Luci and the boys. No Addison he noted, mind-linked to Luci. Is your mother okay?â
âNot really!â Luci sighed âShe will go to the lake tomorrow, Iâve told her I will go with her.â
He nodded âThe boys?â he asked though he had a feeling those two could shift into Siren form anytime they wanted to, simply had chosen not to at this point in time.
âIâll leave them here with you and Jackâ They might want to swim. He offered.
Watched as she looked at the two boys for a long moment as they stood getting food with Jack, âno, I donât think so.
Alari doesnât either.â
He just nodded, slipped his hand into hers âYou must be starving. Everyoneâs gone bar Conner, Eliza, Austin and Sloan. Theyâre all going to stay until the full moon, relax and rest for a day or two.â
âHeâs actually going to stay?â she asked, sounding surprised.
It was a little surprising, most Council members came, attended council business and then were gone the moment it was over. Didnât really stick around for no reason. â Apparently,â Rafe nodded âHeâs not been in this pack for a Mating Ball and neither has Sloan. Both of them are unmated for centuries, who knowsâ he shrugged now, âthey could have mates here.â
âI guess they could do.â Was all she said, was preoccupied by the events of the day he thought, perhaps with the knowledge that there were surviving pack members in her fatherâs lake they were now like Addison a little, worried about them alone up there with no Alpha to protect them.
A large portal appeared outside the packhouse just after 6pm that night, Hannah, Aayliah and Giannah all stepped through and were followed by nearly 50 women of varying ages, he thought, were thin and some unhealthy looking, been treated badly and he knew it. Then there were nearly 6 dozen familyâs as well. Victorâs pack was being divvied up it seemed, theyâd just gained almost 300 pack members.
Could only imagine West and Terence were growing in numbers right now as well.
He could see King Christian on the other side of the portal.
Both he and Jack bowed their heads respectfully to him, saw him incline his head slightly and then the portal was just closed. âHannah?â he asked. Though with a smile, Allen was right there hugging all of them, and he got to watch Aalyiah and Giannah lean all into him.
âMore prisoners,â she stated, âevery one in that pack was afraid of Victor, though some didnât fare as well as others.
Treated terribly so. All that are here with us now, are happy to come and join a new pack, where there is not only no brothel but safety guaranteed.â
He nodded to her and then looked at all of them, smiled â Welcome I am Alpha Rafe, this is Alpha Jack. We are a dual reigning pack. Sanctuary is granted to all that want it.â Then he nudged Jack just a little âAlpha Jack, youâre up I think.â He sent down the mind-link the man knew what he meant, for him to initiate them all.
He knew what to do, had seen Rafe initiate many over the years of their being in charge, this was now also Jackâs job to do, and Rafe was giving it to him to do. His first real Alpha action within the pack.
Jack raised an eyebrow at him but then stepped forward one step. âI Alpha Jack also welcome you all, please come this way.â He motioned for them to follow him into the packhouse.
Rafe nearly growled at the man was more than turned on by those words it seemed, liked it when he announced himself as an Alpha.
