Meanwhile, after leaving the restaurant, Madisyn returned to her office to wrap up some final tasks. She recounted her meeting with Wesley to Clayton, who sighed deeply and said, “Dr. Mia, Wesley isn’t usually like this. He’s just too smitten with Rosemarie. I’m sorry for the trouble.”

“Just keep an eye on Wesley when you can,” Madisyn advised.

“Thank you for the advice, Dr. Mia,” Clayton said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

After finishing her work, Madisyn headed home. Lately, she’d been feeling a bit bored—Susan had taken over the Riggs Group and was too busy, and Andrew was swamped with company affairs as well. So, Madisyn decided to return home and spend some time with Elaine.

Then, Maxine’s call caught her off guard.

“Miss Johns, I’d like to invite you to dinner,” Maxine said.

“Oh? What made you think of inviting me to dinner all of a sudden?” Madisyn asked, a bit surprised.

Maxine’s response was quick. “Well, Norton and I got back together.”

At that, everything clicked for Madisyn. After all, during the recent avalanche, Norton had risked his life to save Maxine. Who wouldn’t be moved by such a gesture?

Madisyn chuckled softly.

Since she had no plans for the evening, Madisyn accepted the dinner invitation. Maxine and Norton had gone all out, reserving the entire restaurant just for the three of them.

“Madisyn,” Norton greeted her with a polite nod. “Is Andrew coming?”

“He’s been pretty busy lately,” Madisyn replied.

Norton muttered under his breath, “Funny, I saw him shopping the other day…”

“What did you say?” Madisyn asked, her brow furrowing.

“Nothing, nothing,” Norton quickly replied. He added, “Let’s eat, I’ve already ordered a few dishes—take a look and see if there’s anything else you’d like.”

Madisyn stayed quiet, her gaze fixed on Norton. Norton suddenly felt as though the weight of the world had settled on his shoulders.

Maxine, with a half-smile, added fuel to the fire. “What did you say? Why stop halfway?”

Under the mounting pressure from both women, Norton could only manage a weak, “Really?”

Maxine raised an eyebrow. “Hmm?”

With a mere flicker of Maxine’s expression, Norton sensed that a storm was brewing. He dared not withhold the truth any longer and confessed, “I saw Andrew shopping at the mall the other day.”

Madisyn, keeping her composure, replied, “Maybe he was just inspecting the mall.”

Norton hesitated, then added, “But there was a woman with him.”
