Chapter 637

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 637:

A sharp sting of despair hit Clayton. He could dismiss Wesley, but what then? He was aging, and the company needed a strong leader. Could he possibly find such a leader within his own family?

Time was slipping away, and he wouldn’t be around much longer. How could he manage to train the ideal successor? For the first time, Clayton questioned his judgment. Perhaps he shouldn’t have placed his trust in Wesley from the beginning… Clayton’s emotions were conflicted.

“Mr. Lambert!” His thoughts were abruptly interrupted by his assistant, who burst through the door.

Clayton scowled. “This is a place for meditation. Why are you so emotional? What’s the matter?”

“Your grandson has returned!” the assistant exclaimed with enthusiasm.

Clayton’s scowl deepened. Why would Wesley come here? Realizing the confusion, the assistant quickly added, “It’s Mr. Zahir Lambert!”

Upon hearing the name, Clayton was taken aback. His prayer beads slipped through his fingers. He instinctively rose and moved toward the door. There, he saw a familiar face.

It was Zahir. Zahir was back!

Tears welled up in Clayton’s eyes, and a single tear rolled down his cheek. His long years of prayer and devotion had finally paid off.

“Grandpa…” Zahir approached the elderly man with caution, calling out softly.

Clayton took his hand and said, “Zahir, you seem thinner!” The straightforward remark triggered tears in both of their eyes. Zahir embraced Clayton tightly.

“Grandpa, I’m sorry it took me so long to come back.”

“It’s alright, it’s alright. Just tell me where you’ve been all this time. Why are you only returning now?” Clayton asked, patting Zahir’s shoulder.

They entered the cozy cabin, greeted by the comforting scent of brewing tea. Zahir began sharing stories of his journey. Clayton’s eyes remained moist as he listened. “You’ve always been so kind-hearted. Your acts of goodness must have been so impactful that even the heavens couldn’t bear to let you suffer.”

Zahir nodded, then inquired, “And you, Grandpa? How have you been all these years?”

Seeing his family again brought back waves of memories. Most of his memories had now returned.

Clayton sighed, his expression heavy. “After your accident, I never stopped looking for you, but I couldn’t find a trace. Now, your younger brother is running the company, and he’s created quite a disaster. Your return now feels like fate.”

Zahir said reassuringly, “Grandpa, now that I’m back, I won’t let you worry about the company anymore.” His voice was steady and filled with determination.

“I’m relieved to hear that. I believe in you. After all, you’ve always been the most outstanding among the younger generation.” Clayton nodded, feeling both pride and hope.
