Chapter 692
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 692:
The guards hesitated, but Savannah was already striding forward, her entourage following close behind.
Inside the quiet living room, Dottie had just finished sipping her medicine and was absorbed in a book.
Savannah stepped into the room, her gaze immediately drawn to the sight before her. The title of Dottieâs book, written in a foreign language, caused her expression to flicker with a hint of surprise. Could it be that Dottie was truly recovering?
Ramon, who had been attending to Dottie, was momentarily startled by Savannahâs abrupt entrance. He knew that if word of Dottieâs recovery spread, those with malicious intent would surely try to hurt her again.
âWhat does this mean, Ramon?â Dottieâs voice, tinged with innocent curiosity, echoed as she pointed to a word in the book. Her gaze shifted to Ramon, silently asking for an explanation.
âIt means âtomorrow,'â he replied gently, his tone calm and reassuring.
âTomorrow?â Dottie said with a pout, lightly tapping her cheek. Although she appeared to be an adult woman, her innocence and naivety still shone through. âWhy does it look so different from what I remember?â
âThatâs because itâs written in another language,â Ramon explained softly, before turning to Savannah. âPrincess Savannah, what brings you here so unexpectedly? The guards seem to lack manners, failing to announce your arrival.â
Savannah caught the subtle rebuke in Ramonâs words about her unannounced entrance. Putting on a concerned expression, she replied, âI heard Dottie had returned, so I came to see her right away. Iâve missed her so much during her absence!â
Moving closer, Savannah wrapped her arm around Dottie in a warm embrace.
Up close, Dottieâs eyes still held that pure, innocent gleam as she looked up at Savannah and nodded. âI missed you too, Savannah.â
For reasons she couldnât quite place, those words sent a chill through Savannahâs heart. But as she observed Dottieâs gentle, naïve expression, she brushed the unease aside. After all, the poison her father had obtained, with much effort, was supposed to be incurable, with no known remedy.
âReally? That makes me so happy. Iâm glad youâre well,â Savannah said with a warm smile. âIâm getting engaged soon, and I hope youâll come to my engagement ceremony.â
âReally? Of course, I wouldnât miss it for the world.â Savannah chatted with Dottie for a while. When she noticed nothing unusual about Dottie, she said her goodbyes and left.
After Savannahâs departure, Dottie watched the door close behind her with cold eyes, the warmth vanishing from her expression. She then turned her attention back to the book in front of her, refocusing on her studies.
It was already noon when Madisyn woke up the next day. She stretched lazily, feeling an unusual lightness in her limbs and a clarity in her mind. The twenty hours of sleep had rejuvenated her.
