Chapter 909
Dear Ex-wife Marry Me Novel Full Episode
Chapter 909
Majaâs heart started to thump wildly, but the flood was already upon them. With landslides on the mountain and an
earthquake in the midst of the downpour, things couldnât get any worse.
When Majaâs consciousness started to return, she heard a manâs voice.
âMs. Pennyfeather should be stirring soon.â
âAny issues with her head?â
âNo, just a minor concussion. Might be a bit dizzy the first few days sheâs awake, but sheâll be fine.â
âHowâs lan?â
âMr. Raymondâs still in the ICU. If he makes it through today, heâll be alright.â
The mention of lanâs name immediately got Maja on edge. Ian was badly hurt, with injuries to his chest and head,
and was finally swept away by the landslide. Would he really be okay?
Her heart ached as she remembered their kiss before the flood. It was light as a feather but heavier than any
words spoken. She wanted to speak, but she was too weak.
When she woke up in the evening, she saw a white ceiling. By her bedside was Carol, whom she hadnât seen in a
long time.
Carol was startled when Maja woke up and immediately hugged her.
âMaja, what happened? When I heard the nurse say your name, I thought someone shared your name. Why are
you in the hospital again?â
Maja and Carol hadnât seen each other in a while, both busy with their own thing.
âCarol.â She coughed a couple of times, her chest feeling tight, making it difficult to speak.
âTake it slow, donât speak if you canât.â Carol gently patted her back, then whispered, âGrandpa Holden left this
morning. I heard he stayed by your side all night. I couldnât leave until he was gone.â
Hearing that Grandpa Holden had been by her bedside for so long, Maja immediately felt guilty. Holden was weak,
and hearing about lanâs situation mustâve been hard on him..
âCarol, howâs lan?â
Maja didnât know how long sheâd been asleep, but she vaguely remembered someone saying lan was in the ICU.
Her heart immediately sank.
âHeâs out of the ICU. I heard he had a few surgeries. His chest wounds got infected, so heâs bedridden now. His
headâs bandaged too. I took a peek. Itâs the first time Iâve seen lan in such a state.â
Carolâs family was wellâoff, and she moved in the same circles as them. She always thought lan was untouchable,
and she had never seen him in such a state before.
Maja immediately stopped talking. She lowered her eyes, and clung to her bedsheet. Carol sighed, poured her
some water and gave it to her. âMaja, I heard it. Never mind. Just focus on getting better. You look weak.â
Maja did feel weak, even talking was painful. She laid back down, and closed her eyes. Carol watched her, gently
tucking her in.
When Maja woke up the next day, the doctor was administering her IV. Seeing her awake, he began to explain her
treatment.
âMs. Miller left this morning. Sheâs been visiting the hospital frequently because her boyfriendâs cousin just had
surgery and needs to be hospitalized for half a year, so her boyfriend visits often.â
Maja didnât respond, her throat felt dry. The doctor checked her temperature, relieved that she wasnât running a
fever. âYouâre lucky you donât have a fever. Mr. Raymond had a fever all day yesterday and needed emergency
treatment.â
Maja was alarmed and tried to sit up. âHow is he? Is he okay?â
âHeâs fine. He was transferred to a regular room in the wee hours of the morning.â The doctor, part of the team
that had gone up the mountain to search for lan, had close ties with the Raymond family, so he looked at Maja with
gentle eyes. âMr. Raymond must really like you.â
This took Maja by surprise, but then she remembered Darlene who was pregnant and managed a small smile.
âWeâre not dating. Youâve misunderstood.â
The doctor raised his eyebrows in surprise, seemingly in disbelief. âReally? Even after what heâs been through, how
can he not be your boyfriend?â Maja wasnât sure what he meant by âwhat heâs been throughâ, so she decided to
stay silent.
The doctor took down the IV bag and removed the needle from her hand. âMs. Pennyfeather, someone will bring
you food later. Youâve been on IV for a while, you should eat more.â
Maja nodded and tried to smile, âAlright.â
âAlso, be careful when you walk. Your leg was injured, but itâs been treated. You should thank Mr. Raymond.â
After the doctor said this, he left with his tray of medicines.
Maja was a bit taken aback. She had injured her leg? Why didnât she remember? She touched her leg, it did hurt a
bit, but sheâd been bedridden for
half a month and was almost healed.
She and lan were swept away by the flood together. The doctor said she should thank lan. Did he briefly regain
consciousness after that and treat her leg? But was that possible? lan was severely injured at the time. She couldnât
figure it out, so she decided to close her eyes.
