Chapter 49
A Farewell After Being Reborn
âEven if there are risks, one must seek fortune amidst danger. In our line of work, arenât some risks
worth taking?â
Seeing Shaneâs nonchalant smirk, Sage chuckled. âSo, you never considered seeking my opinion.â
Shane adjusted himself into a more comfortable position and said, âMs. Joyner, youâve got it wrong. I
informed you of the outcome. Iâm showing considerable respect, Iâd say.â
Sage observed Shaneâs relaxed and playful expression. She knew that the matter was already
decided.
Since she proposed the partnership, Shane seemed more interested in her actions than the
collaboration itself.
Now that he could secure Mimosa on his own, her presence was even less meaningful.
âWell then, letâs just pretend my proposal never existed,â Sage said.
âI thought, despite being a businessman, you wouldnât blindly blur the lines
between right and wrong just for money. But turns out, youâre just as immoral. In that case, we donât
need to work together!â
With that, Sage stood up to leave.
However, Shane stopped her. âMs. Joyner, wait a moment.â
Sage looked at him indifferently.
Shane then asked with a wicked smile, âAre you really willing to give up this opportunity? If you donât
join Farsight Investment, how do you plan to compete with Ivy, Ianâs beloved?â
Sage wasnât surprised that Shane had investigated her and knew her intentions. Nonetheless, he only
knew one side of the story.
Sage replied in a clipped tone, âYou need not concern yourself with this matter,
Mr. Morrison. As long as I have a goal, Iâll find a way regardless of the circumstances.â
Just when Shane wanted to say more, his phone rang. Sage knew it was a call from his subordinates,
so when Shane unlocked the screen, she left without waiting.
âWhat?!â Shaneâs voice suddenly rose behind her.
âStop right there!â Shane called after her. This time, his attitude was evidently hostile, and his usually
affectionate eyes now held a menacing glint.
Sage raised an eyebrow. âWhat happened? Why are you looking at me like that?â
Shane sneered and said, âMrs. Holcomb, you and Ian are quite adept at
coordinating. One deliberately leaked information to buy time, while the other silently resolved
Benjaminâs matter!â
Sage was dumbfounded. She thought, âIan has received the news too? And he acted so swiftly?â
âDonât discuss morality with me so earnestly. Youâre just putting on a show. If
you want, I can introduce you to the acting industry.â
Sage chuckled at that. âMr. Morrison, let me offer a piece of advice. When youâre not as good as
others, just admit defeat gracefully. Donât blame your failures on others, as that only makes you look
more incompetent.
âDonât assume Iâm as despicable as you claim. Even if Ian and I plotted against you, you brought it
upon yourself!â
Fortunately, she hadnât actually worked with someone as abominable as Shane to help Benjamin cover
up a scandal for the sake of profit!
Shane was stumped by her words. His face turned furious. âDonât think I wonât do anything to you just
because youâre Ianâs wife! Iâve never been played by a woman. You arenât going anywhere!â
With a wave of his hand, his hidden bodyguard suddenly appeared. âYes, Mr.
Morrison?â
Shaneâs voice turned icy as he ordered, âTie her up. Take photos and send them
to lan. Tell him his wife is in our hands!â
ctrl
âYouâve lost your mind!â Sage exclaimed as she stepped back in horror. âDonât you know kidnapping is
a crime?â
