Chapter 50
A Farewell After Being Reborn
Shaneâs laughter was cold and malicious. âYou had the guts to mess with me. Iâll teach you a lesson,
even if it means breaking the law!â
When she saw Shaneâs fearless attitude and the approaching bodyguard, Sage felt
a tinge of regret. She had been too presumptuous. She had thought that her knowledge from her past
life could be leveraged to negotiate with Shane.
She never considered investigating what kind of person he was.
Now, with him turning hostile, she wouldnât be able to escape if he decided to tie her up.
With Ianâs apparent dislike toward her, she doubted he would intervene. Even if he did, she didnât want
to owe him any favors.
âHide if you can. Letâs see where you can escape to!â Shane stalked toward her. His voice was
menacing.
The second floor seemed to have been cleared by Shane, and there was no one around to help.
Sageâs scream for help was rendered useless.
Sage contemplated whether it would be more effective to smash a wine bottle and threaten to hurt
herself or take a gamble by doing the same to Shane.
âWho dares to lay a hand on her?â
Amid her thoughts, an angry voice suddenly echoed from behind.
It was Ian! 1
In what seemed like a trick of the light, Ianâs eyes flashed with a hint of concern when he looked at
Sage.
âHey, Mr. Holcomb, you came just in time. I havenât even sent you a message yet, and here you are!â
Shane said mockingly.
Ian ignored him and strode toward Sage. He frowned as he asked, âAre you hurt?â
Sage shook her head.
âLetâs go.â Ian didnât say much. He gestured for Sage to follow him.
However, Shaneâs bodyguard blocked their way.
âYou plan to leave without giving an explanation?â Shaneâs playful expression carried a hint of chill.
Ian looked at him coldly. âI was waiting for an explanation from you. Why did you try to bind my wife?â
While speaking, two burly men clad in black came up to Shane. In terms of numbers and strength,
Shaneâs lone bodyguard seemed at a disadvantage.
Sage hadnât expected Ian to come, let alone bring bodyguards.
âLooks like you have come prepared.â Shaneâs lips curled into a mysterious smile. âDo you know who
the owner of this bar is?â
Sage suddenly felt uneasy. If this bar belonged to Shane, Ianâs two bodyguards might not be enough to
contend with him.
Thinking about their last intense car collision, Sage couldnât help but worry. If a fight broke out, where
would she find safety?
Ian seemed to misunderstand Sageâs concern. He took her hand. Her fingers were enclosed in his
warm palm. Though she felt uncomfortable, Sage didnât pull away
because now wasnât the time for trivialities.
âThe Morrisonsâ empire is vast. Having a few bars is nothing out of the ordinary,
Ian calmly stated.
TI
âThen, do you think you can leave here so easily?â Shane provocatively asked.
Ian revealed a composed, thin smile as he uttered, âYou can go downstairs and
see for yourself.â
At his words, Shaneâs face fell. He quickly walked to the edge and looked down.
The bustling hall, which had plenty of guests a while ago, was now empty. The bar staff stood in a line,
and the bouncers were bound and kneeling on the floor.
Meanwhile, standing in the hall was a group of trained bodyguards dressed in
black. They exuded both authority and precision.
âIan, youâve got guts! How dare you bring so many people to mess up my place!â Shane roared.
Ian gazed at him indifferently and said, âIf you dare to target my wife again, Iâm afraid I wonât just mess
up your establishment.â
With that, Ian led Sage away.
1
âIan, Iâll let you off this time. This isnât over!â Shane
bellowed from behind.
