Chapter 76
A Farewell After Being Reborn
What kind of man was Ian? He wouldnât listen to Sage, nor would he ever apologize to Shane. It was
basically a fever dream.
âIf thatâs the case, then the bet is off,â Shane said lazily. âBut Iâm not an unreasonable man. You were
sincere, so you donât have to finish all this wine today. You can do something else instead.â
Sage looked at him. âWhat is it?â
Shane said, âA woman will come by later. Help me get rid of her.â
Sage thought sheâd misheard. âGet rid of a woman? What kind of woman?â
Shane didnât hide his irritation whatsoever. âAn annoying, clingy woman whom I canât chase away.
Sage guessed that this womanâs relationship with Shane was no ordinary one based on his
reaction.
Shane must have been unable to get rid of her because of some family reasons, so he was using Sage
to get rid of her.
If it were just some ordinary woman, Shane wouldâve already made her cower with that temperament of
his. He wouldnât have gone to this length just to find Sage in the first place.
âWhat an interesting way of doing things, Mr. Morrison. How could I get rid of someone based on my
current identity? It wouldnât be appropriate even if I pretended to be a woman who likes you,â Sage
said.
Shane said nonchalantly, âThatâs your problem, not mine. You can either get her out of here, and Iâll
pretend what happened last time never happened, or you can finish this bottle of wine and compensate
me for my mental turmoil.â
He added deviously, âDonât expect Ian to come rescue you. Iâve been fooled once before, so I wonât be
fooled again. I can guarantee you he wonât get the least bit of advantage even if he
comes here.â
Of course Sage knew Shane had everything prepared. Ian was outstation for work, too, so there was
no way he would be able to rush back in time.
Sage asked earnestly, âWhy do you need me for this kind of thing, Mr. Morrison? A lot more people are
far suited for this than I am.â
âNo. No one is more suitable than you,â Shane said. He then explained patiently, âOne, your looks are
very convincing. Two, you wonât take advantage of this to cling to me. Three, you owe me. Four, Iâm
happy to have you do this.â
Sage didnât respond. Now she understood why Shane made her come here.
Putting pressure on Sage was far easier an alternative to vent his anger out than something as violent
as abduction.
âMr. Morrison, Ms. Rosewood is here.â The secretaryâs voice rang out from the intercoms on the desk.
Sage swiftly reached into her handbag and grasped her phone.
âGot it.â Shane ended the call line.
Sage quietly pulled her hand out.
âIâll leave the rest up to you, Ms. Joyner.â Shane didnât notice Sageâs movements at all. He beamed
widely. âDonât worry. Iâm a man of my word. Iâll let go of what happened before as long as you can get
rid of her.â
Sage said in a louder tone, âI really canât do this sort of thing, Mr. Morrison. If we get into a fight in your
office, it would badly affect you,
you, wouldnât it?â
Shane said, âDonât worry. You can compensate for whatever you break here in the office.â
Sage remained silent.
Just then, there was some noise from outside Shaneâs office door. A woman in her 20 walked in,
dressed exquisitely.
âShanie.â Her sweet voice rang out the moment she walked through the door.
But after seeing Sage, the smile on her face fell. She asked Shane, âWho is she?â
