Chapter 81
A Farewell After Being Reborn
âOur company doesnât lack connections and resources. Why would we give away our money freely to
others?â
Susan then said to Ian, âIâll just be honest with you, Ian. I came here tonight to make dinner for you
because thereâs something I need your help with.
âYour uncle wants to partner up with Pacific Group, but they donât believe in him. So, I was thinking that
maybe you could help meet up with them and get us connected?â
âIanâs really busy nowadays and has no time to help with the Joyner familyâs issues, so please donât
burden him further, Aunt Susan!â Sage said coldly.
âWhat are you saying, Sage? Ian is our familyâs sonâinâlaw. How would it be a burden for him to help
his inâlaws? What do you say, Ian?â Susan then asked lan.
Ian glanced at Sage, who had a cold expression on her face. He then said lightly, âGive me the other
partyâs information, Aunt Susan. Iâll have someone check on it later before giving
you a reply.â
âOh, thank
you so much, Jan! I knew you would help us out!â Susan was overjoyed to hear this. She quickly ladled
some more stew for Ian. âDrink up, Ian. No one else can cook up a
stew like I can!â
Sage remained silent.
After Susan finished eating, she left the information behind for Ian before leaving happily.
Sage gazed unhappily at Ian. âDidnât I tell you not to agree to any of Aunt Susanâs âests?â
âYou seem to really not want me involved with the Joyner familyâs business,â Ian retorted.
There was no hiding this sort of thing from Ian, so Sage said honestly, âI think it would be better for the
Joyner family to get used to not getting any help since weâll be divorced
sooner or later.â
Ianâs eyes darkened. âWhy do you see me as such a cold and heartless person?â
Sage sneered internally. Ian hadnât cared about the Joyner family in the least bit when she was in the
asylum. In fact, many people took advantage of the situation to attack the family, reducing Maven
Corporationâs strength. 1
âRing, ring! Cutie, your phone is ringing-â
Donald happened to call, so Sage didnât waste any more time with Ian. She went upstairs while
answering the phone call.
Donald had heard about Susanâs visit to her home, so he called to ask her about it.
âSusan mustâve heard about my discussion with your uncle about hiring people, then went to find you
on her own,â Donald said. He then sighed. âDid she pressure you, Sage?â
Sage consoled Donald instead, âItâs okay. Iâm used to being shameless around Ian anyway, so things
werenât too bad.â
âWhat do you mean, shameless? Donât you dare speak about yourself like that!â Donald said pitifully.
Sage said in a delicate tone, âIâm just joking. Donât worry, Grandpa. Ian isnât upset with me. He even
came back home just to have dinner with me!â
âThatâs good,â Donald said gladly.
Just then, Sage saw Ian walk into the room. He had clearly overheard her conversation. His gaze was
deep and telling.
âRest soon, Grandpa. Iâll hang up for now.â
After hanging up the call, Sage rubbed her face. âYou can have the master bedroom if you like it so
much. Iâll move to the guest room.â
Ian extended an arm to block Sageâs way.
âWhat are you doing?â Sageâs brows furrowed cautiously.
Ian said, âYou talk about divorce every single day, Sage, so Iâm sure you no longer feelings for me
whatsoever. That means you shouldnât be affected no matter where stay or whenever Iâm around. Why
are you so opposed to me staying here in the master bedroom?â
Sage was confused.
What nonsense was Ian saying?
Sage obviously couldnât live with Ian in the same room if she had no more feelings for him!
