Chapter 237
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Derek looked over his shoulder to ensure Marcus was out of earshot. He could tell Marcus was genuinely upset this time.
There seemed to be something Marcus felt for Millie, yet she gave him nothing in return.
With a determined look, Derek turned his attention to Millie. âMadame, are you enjoying your porridge?â he asked.
Millie paused for a moment. Did Derek want some too?
âItâs good. Would you like a bowl? | can get you one,â she said.
She remembered Derek helping her out once. It felt right to return the favor and get him some porridge.
âNo, itâs not that. | have something to tell you, Madame.â
Upon seeing the earnest expression on Derekâs face, Millie was taken aback.
âGo ahead, Derek.â
âThe truth is, | didnât see Rhea throw that rock at you,â he stated.
The revelation took Millie by surprise.
âWhy did you say it then? Did you help me because you thought Iâm a good person?â she asked.
âIt was Mr. Thomas who told me to say it. He mustâve seen something. If you want to express gratitude, heâs the one you should
be thanking,â said Derek.
Millieâs lips twitched. Back then, Marcus was so livid, he could've strangled her.
How would he have known?
When he noticed the injury on her head in the orchard and asked if it was Rheaâs doing, did he know something?
âPlease donât let Mr. Thomas know | told you,â Derek added.
Millie wondered why he said that. But as she was about to ask, she noticed Marcus had returned.
Marcus walked back to the table, picked up his coat and asked, âAre you done?â
Feeling sated, Millie put down her spoon.
Getting up from his chair, Derek announced, âI'll take care of the bill.â
Just a few steps out, Marcus and Derek realized that Millie, who should've been waiting tables, was trailing behind them.
