Chapter 238
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Upon seeing Marcusâ baffled expression, Millie held up the bowl of porridge in her hand.
âI'm on my break. Iâm heading to the hospital to deliver this porridge to my grandma.â
With that, she walked out of the restaurant, standing at the roadside to hail a cab. A high-end car pulled up, and the occupant
inside rolled down the window.
âHop in. I'll give you a lift.â It was Marcus.
Millie scanned the road. Finding a taxi seemed like a tall order at this hour, so she stepped into the car without a second thought.
The drive was marked by silence. Millie kept replaying Derekâs words in her head.
She should be thanking Marcus.
Stealing a glance at Marcus, she found his face still set in a frosty expression. There were moments she wanted to break the
silence, but the words just wouldnât come.
âWe're here.â Marcusâ voice broke the silence when the car pulled up to a stop but Millie was still seated in the car.
âAlright.â Millie reached for the door handle but stopped short and spun around.
âThanks.â
Marcus furrowed his brows. âFor what?â
The memory of Derekâs warming against telling Marcus suddenly sprang to her mind.
âThanks for the ride to the hospital.â
After stepping out of the car, Millie noticed Marcus following suit. Did he intend to accompany her to visit her grandmother?
âAre you coming to see my grandma with me?â Millieâs voice betrayed her surprise.
Marcus was the picture of a model. Grandma would be thrilled to meet someone as handsome as him!
Her greatest desire was for Millie to marry well. Millie had been married for quite some time now, yet sheâd never introduced her
husband to her grandma.
Even though her Grandma never voiced it, Millie knew she wanted to meet him.
Millie's question caught Marcus off guard. His attention had been fixed on a spot in the parking lot, and now he seemed at a loss
for words.
âYou should go upstairs,â he said.
âAlright!â
