Chapter 684
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âWhat did you talk about?â Marcus approached Millie. He had come back intentionally because Derek
informed him that someone had been following her.
Even though Bruce had handled the situation, Marcusâ worry lingered.
âNothing of importance,â Millie replied, shaking her head.
âIs that true?â Marcus asked, staring intently into her eyes.
âYes. Why are you back? What happened?â Millie asked, deftly steering the conversation in a new
direction.
Marcus answered, his voice tinged with concern, âSomeone has been following you.
Whatâs going on? Are you hurt?â He looked Millie up and down, searching for any signs of injury.
Had he come back for her? Millie was slightly taken aback.
âItâs two men sent by Fiona. She wants me to move out of this community,â she explained.
Confused, Marcus asked, âDo you know why?â
Why would she send people to follow Millie?
Millie responded, âShe must be feeling guilty. Sheâs afraid Iâll reveal her hidden secrets since we live in
the same neighborhood and might bump into each other frequently.â
Marcus had already sensed something amiss with Fiona. Still, Leonâs infatuation blinded him to her true
nature.
As Marcus turned to leave, Millie suddenly reached out and grabbed his wrist.
âHave you really recovered?â she asked, suspicion in her eyes.
She knew something was off, as Marcus had never changed his dressing at home.
And she knew that it wasnât because he felt embarrassed.
A faint smile crossed Marcusâ lips as he said, âYes.â
Millieâs concern seemed to ease the pain in his wound.
Upon seeing Marcusâ grin, Millieâs face flushed, and a wave of dizziness washed over her. But her mind
quickly sharpened, and she narrowed her eyes slightly.
âyou donât believe me? Then unbutton my shirt and see for yourself,â Marcus teased, smirking.
He took Millieâs slender hand and placed it on one of his shirt buttons, his raised an eyebrow hinting at
her next move.
