Chapter 705
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Rheaâs face fell, hurt by Marcusâ desire to dismiss her as soon as she arrived.
âAre you still mad about last night? Iâm truly sorry. I had no idea you were on the phone with Millie. If
she misunderstood anything, Iâll go and apologize to her right now.â
Despite her words, she had actually done it deliberately.
âYou donât need to do that,â Marcus replied.
He knew that if Rhea went to find Millie, it would reveal that his wound was not healing. This
information would cause unnecessary worry.
Marcusâ face turned grim, and he began to focus on the documents on his desk, paying no attention to
Rhea. Left standing alone, embarrassment washed over Rhea, and she walked out of the room silently.
Upon leaving, she made her way toward Celeste. Marcusâ indifference had stung her, and she resolved
to take it out on Millie.
It didnât take long for Rhea to locate Celeste.
âMrs. Thomas, I went to see Marcus earlier today,â Rhea said.
Celesteâs face immediately showed concern as she asked, âHow is he? Has he gotten any better?â
âNo, his condition is actually getting worse.â Rhea shook her head as she spoke.
Celesteâs brow furrowed in worry. As her only son, Marcusâ well-being was her top priority, and she
couldnât bear to see him suffer.
âMrs. Thomas, you mentioned that you were going to drive Millie away, didnât you?â
Rhea questioned, recalling the day Celeste had gone to the temple to inquire about Millieâs fortune.
She had even witnessed Celeste trying to confront Millie.
In recent days, however, there had been no developments.
Celesteâs face turned stern. She had indeed confronted Millie, only to be met with indifference.
âHumph, driving her away isnât as simple as it seems. Sheâs found a wealthy man in Marcus, and she
wonât leave him that easily,â Celeste said with a disdainful snort.
âMrs. Thomas, rest assured, Iâll speak to Millie on your behalf.â
Later, on Millieâs way home, Rhea crossed paths with Millie and stopped her.
Millieâs eyes narrowed as she looked at Rhea, who was standing there, arms folded.
âMillie, Mrs. Thomas sent me to speak with you. Sheâs been quite clear about your dire fate, and you
must leave Marcus at once. Why are you still with him? Have you no shame?â Rhea spat out.
Millieâs response was a derisive sneer. This reaction only served to further irritate Rhea, who was
already envious of Millieâs position.
