Chapter 743
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âWhy did Fiona have the plastic surgery? Who was behind this?â
He realized something had been off about Fionaâs appearance and demeanor. It was clear now; she
was an imposter.
How was it possible for Fiona, just an average woman, to suddenly transform into the object of Leonâs
affection? The whole scenario was implausible. There had to be some hidden force at play.
Giovanniâs chest tightened with anxiety. What was he to do? Betraying Lois seemed inevitable now.
âHave you gone deaf, or are you asking for death?â Marcus spat.
Derek unsheathed a knife and thrust it into the table near Giovanniâs hand, making his point clear.
âAll that Fiona has done was orchestrated by Lois,â Giovanni confessed, his voice trembling.
âWait⦠Lois Rayne?â
Derekâs eyes widened. He couldnât believe what he was hearing. Lois had always seemed like a gentle
and refined woman. Everyone in Preagend knew she was in love with Leon. How could she have
orchestrated Fionaâs deceit, effectively sabotaging her own chances with Leon?
His mind was a whirl of confusion, unable to piece it all together.
Marcus, on the other hand, grasped the truth. Lois was cunning, indeed. Knowing Leonâs lingering
feelings for another, she had proffered Fiona as a replacement, intending for Leon to see her
unworthiness and move on.
So, Fiona wasnât the woman Leon had been seeking. But where was she?
Marcusâ voice cut through the room. âArrange a meeting with Fiona tomorrow. Iâll bring Leon along.
Youâll coax the truth from Fiona, exposing her true nature to him.â
âand what of Fiona?â Giovanniâs voice broke. âIf I do this, sheâs finished.â
âChoose between Fiona and yourself,â Marcus countered with a sneer.
He then turned to Derek with a steely gaze. âIâll head back now. You know what needs to be done
next.â
Once Marcus had left, Giovanni, his hands trembling, took the phone from Derek to dial Fiona.
Fionaâs anger was palpable through the phone when she answered Giovanniâs call.
âWhy were you ignoring my calls earlier? Iâve been sick with worry. Donât even think about telling me
youâve failed again. Marcus pointed a gun at me tonight, Giovanni. I almost died. Do you understand
that?â Her voice was shrill with fear and frustration.
Giovanniâs eyes flicked up to Derek, who was watching him intently. He kept his voice low as he
murmured, âNo, I didnât fail. Iâve decided to do it tomorrow night, but I need to see you first.â
Fionaâs tone changed, a note of suspicion entering her voice. âIf you havenât made a move yet, why
would Marcus be furious enough to shoot me?â
Giovanni faltered for a moment before replying, âHmm⦠Perhaps heâs discovered your constant
attempts to harm Millie. Maybe he wanted to confront you directly.â
