Chapter 1458
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1458
Inside a car headed toward an affluent part of Glanchester.
Janine and Matthew were seated together in the back row.
Jake was in the passenger seat up front. He kept turning his head around and angrily voicing his complaint about how Sherry
barely acknowledged him in front of Carl.
âYou wouldn't believe how arrogant she was! How dare she think that she can humiliate us like that?!â The more Jake thought
about it, the angrier he became as he roared. angrily. âYou two really shouldn't have taken her back all those years ago, sheâs an
ungrateful scum! She'll never learn!â
Matthew reacted dully, his eyes closed the entire time.
Janine remarked with a scornful scoff, âIf | had known that sheâd be so ungrateful, I'd never have rescued her from the
countryside!â
As if her getting Shannon thrown into jail was not bad enough, she now dared to separate herself from them entirely!
Janine was incensed!
Jake roared. âIf it was me, I'd have slapped her right
across the face in front of everyone, show everyone exactly what sheâs made of!â
Janine snorted. âI'd stain my hands if | do something like that.â
âStop it!â Matthew, who had been silent the entire time, finally spoke up.
Both Janine and Jake immediately zipped their lips though they both still had a lot to say.
Jake asked, âDo you think that we were in the wrong?â
Matthew was just as enraged as them and wanted to slap Sherry just as much.
However, circumstances were different now as Sherry had changed as well.
Did these two have any idea what the Sagers were made of?
A historical royal family that had existed for more than two centuries. Despite their minor setbacks, they had been thriving in the
past two years, regaining their prestige and more. Right now, the collective wealth of their family was ranked among the top three
in the country.
Not only did Sherry share a close relationship with Young Master Sager himself, rumors even had it that she was the one who
was responsible for the familyâs glorious comeback!
The full extent of her capabilities was unimaginable.
He never expected that his daughter who he had always hated with a passion would be blessed with such talents.
When he recalled how he and Janine had treated her...
Astout look came upon his face as he sighed. âShe doesnât want to acknowledge us because we haven't cared about her all
these years.â
Jakeâs eyes flickered, he struggled for words and stammered, âStill, sheâs your daughter! Besides, if you two hadnât brought her
into the city, away from the backward country life, would she be where she is today?â
Janine seemed to agree with this rhetoric. âThatâs right, if we hadnât brought her back from the countryside and cared for her,
showed her the world, sheâd never have become President Sherry we know today!â
Matthew raised a sharp point. âAll we did was care for her for a handful of years.â
Janine retorted, âIt still counts for something! The best education money can get you, sheâd never have done it without us giving
her a step up!â
Jake echoed, âExactly! You were the ones who gave birth to her! Itâs one thing if sheâs not grateful for what you've done for her,
but she doesnât even try to acknowledge your existence. Sheâs a heartless wench!â
Matthew frowned and stayed silent.
Jake said, âHereâs what | think, you two should go to her and tell her to pull some strings, help you two form a connection with
the Sagers. Iâm sure she knows a lot of people. With her help, Iâm sure the status of your family will be greatly boosted and your
wealth will grow exponentially before you know it.â
Matthew seemed intrigued by the idea, but his confidence was deflated when he recalled the way Sherry had received them
today.
Janine agreed. âI'll go to see her in a few days. If she still refuses to acknowledge me as her mother, she'll get it from me!â
Julie drove back to the house by herself.
Her mind was filled with the events that transpired
tonight. She went to Madam Stocktonâs yard.
Madam Stockton and Queenie were digging up soil with Caprice in the yard.
The child was not interested in remote racing cars and had a preference for the toy excavators instead.
She was messing around with a model excavator, shoveling soil out of the ground in a very practiced fashion.
Madam Stockton was showering her with praises.
Queenie was applauding her endlessly as well.
As Julie beheld the scene, a flash of disgust appeared in her eyes.
