Chapter 1780
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1780
Sherry quickly cleared things up. âNo, | promised to forgive him and to make up with him in time.â
âIn that case, you should take this.â Madam Stockton tried to shove the box into her hands.
Sherry insisted on not taking it. âItâs just too sudden. We can talk about this later.â
Madam Stockton frowned sourly. She expressed with a sigh, âI understand that he hurt you gravely. | should not have forced you
two to break up a decade ago. It must have left a bad taste in your mouth. If | were you, | would have a hard time forgiving him
as well.â
Her voice became choked up as she spoke.
Sherry was silent. She winced. This was a tough situation for her.
Although some emotions were welling inside her that she still could not look past, she was aware that she had promised John to
repair their relationship. She could not go back on her word.
She knew that it would not please Madam Stockton if she continued to refuse the family heirloom.
âIt was all my fault. I've made things difficult for you two during all those years and put you through so much...â Madam Stockton
went on and on.
Sherry made up her mind. âItâs alright. I'll take it.
Madam Stocktonâs eyes immediately lit up.
Sherry took the box and promptly tucked it into her purse.
Madam Stockton wore a celebratory smile. She turned to Sherry and thanked her sincerely, âThank you, Sherry.â She was
thanking her for being willing to make up with John.
These days, Madam Stockton had been nothing but miserable. She would spend every waking hour of the day praying that the
pair would reconcile their differences. Otherwise, she would have to live with the guilt of tearing them apart for the rest of her life.
Sherry frowned.
She could see that the madam had learned her lesson and was committed to being a better person. Despite that, it was difficult
for her to forget the horrible pains the madam had once inflicted upon her.
She understood that there was no point in holding the past against her, especially considering how she had never done that in
the past as well.
âHave you had breakfast?â she asked.
Madam Stockton smiled briskly. âI have. After | got off the plane with Queenie, we ate in the car while we were on the way here.â
Then, she asked Sherry the same question, âHave you eaten?â
âCaprice and | ate just now.â With that, she got up. âCome on, letâs go in.â
âSure.â
Madam Stockton had some difficulty getting up. It seemed like the accident had impacted her physical health.
As Sherry kindly helped her up, Madam Stockton smiled sincerely at her.
Sherry returned the same smile.
With that, they entered the ward.
Queenie stood near the entrance and traced a smile when she saw the pair enter.
John was seated on the hospital bed and eating the breakfast Sherry bought for him.
Caprice was next to him, she was playing with a plushie.
When John noticed Sherry and Madam Stockton entering, he looked up and smiled warmly at Sherry.
Sherry returned a faint smile and turned to Caprice. âCaprice, Grandma is here. Why donât you come and play with Grandma for
a while?â
Caprice nodded obediently and promptly hopped out of bed. She quickly approached Sherry and Madam Stockton.
Sherry shot her a look.
Caprice immediately took the hint, she walked up to Madam Stockton and greeted her in a sing-song voice, âHello, Grandma...â
Madam Stockton quickly bent over and took Caprice into her arms. âCaprice, oh my baby, Grandma misses you so much.â
Caprice was used to having Sherry shower her with affection in the same manner. Once she settled into Madam Stocktonâs
arms, she planted a big smooch on the madamâs cheeks out of habit.
Madam Stockton shrieked with joy. She would have spun around in circles with Caprice in her arms if not for her poor and aging
knees.
Sherry smiled and lead the two of them to a nearby couch so they could have a seat.
Madam Stockton held on to Caprice the entire time as if she was afraid that Caprice would vaporize into dust if she was not
careful.
John took his time with his breakfast.
It was a rather heartwarming scene.
