Chapter 1831
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1831
Sylvia led Caprice by the hand. âCaprice, letâs go. The boys will come later.â
Caprice followed her to the dining table and asked out of curiosity, âAunt Sylvia, aren't Flint and Isabel coming home today?â
Sylvia replied, âIsabel has a shoot today and Flint is very busy, so theyâre not coming back.â
This meant that it was only going to be the two of them along with Odell and Liam.
Did Liam know about this?
Did his girlfriend Heather know?
âCaprice, what's wrong? Why the sad face? Did something bad happen?â Sylvia noticed her sullen expression almost
immediately.
Caprice quickly snapped back to her senses and played it down. âNo, nothing.â
âAre you sure? You looked like there was something on your mind back there.â Sylvia took her hand and suddenly shifted to a
serious tone, âYour mother isnât around, so Iâm your family now. Come on and tell me. What happened?â
For a brief second, Caprice almost decided to tell Sylvia to stop trying to set her up with Liam. Liam already had a girlfriend, and
she did not want to ruin their relationship. Then, she immediately realized that going by Uncle Odellâs way of doing things, he
would tell Liam to break up with Heather if he found out about their relationship.
It seemed like Liam hadnât told them about Heather. This must be part of the reason he was having reservations about telling
them. She should not meddle with his private affairs.
She assured Sylvia, âAunt Sylvia, Iâm fine. Itâs just something that happened to one of my roommates recently. | think | might
have to go back to see her for a bit after lunch.â
Sylvia was relieved to hear this, then she asked out of concern, âWhat happened to your roommate? Do you need me to help?â
âNo, it'll be fine.â
âAlright, but if you face any problems at all, you have to tell me, understand?â
âYeah, | understand.â
After a while, Liam and Odell came down to join them.
The father and son were about the same height, and both of them stood a head taller than most people. The difference was that
while Odell held himself with a reflective air, wise with age, Liam had a certain daring that only the young could afford.
Caprice greeted Odell with a warm smile, âHi Uncle Odellâ
Odell smiled at her âHey, letâs eatâ
With that, he approached Sylvia and sat on one end of the table
The table was rectangular, and since the couple was seated on one side, that meant Caprice and Liam had to sit across them.
Caprice grew nervous when she realized she had to sit next to Liam but quickly composed
herself. There was nothing to be nervous about. He already had a girlfriend and only thought of her as his sister.
They ate in silence.
âCaprice, itâs going to be the summer break soon. Do you have any plans for the summer?â Odell suddenly broke the silence.
Caprice answered, âI have no plans for now, but | might go home and stay there for the summer.â
Both her grandma and father had been hinting at her to go home, and she figured there was no reason she should not do so.
Odell swiped a look at Liam before turning back to Caprice. âYou're almost 20. Have your parents thought about letting you intern
at their place?â
John and Sherry only had one daughter and had a habit of pampering and sheltering her. Still, it was only a matter of time before
she had to take on the mantle of the family business.
Caprice pulled a face and said in a low voice, âThey did mention that, but | donât want to intern yet.â
She interned during the last summer break and it did not go well at all. She barely understood anything, and all the materials she
was given to read seemed like they were written in another language. She planned to try again after her graduation. Maybe she
would be more ready by then.
Liam must have thought poorly of her when he found out how dense she was.
All three of Liam, Isabel, and Flint were prodigies and crushed it academically. She wondered why she had so much trouble with
school when her parents were known for being very intelligent as well.
Before allowing time for Caprice to further second-guess herself, Odell encouraged her with a smile, âYouâre still young. You donât
have to go if you feel like you have more to learn.â
After a pause, he continued, âI heard Liam needs an assistant. You could consider working with him this summer. Itâs a chance to
gain some experience without having to stress about working with your parents.â
Caprice grew stiff as she glanced at Liam. She wondered what his reaction would be.
