Chapter 1874
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1874
Isabel fixed a look at Caprice and Freya before stating solemnly, âThe tickets you bought are legitimate, there was nothing wrong
with the machine as well.â
Freya was puzzled by this. âIf thereâs nothing wrong with the tickets and the machine, why couldnât we enter?â
Caprice frowned sharply. âAre you suggesting that someone was intentionally targeting us?â
Isabel nodded gravely.
Caprice did not need any further hints to gauge who this person was. âWas it Heather?â
Isabel was surprised. âHow did you figure that out?â
â| just had a feeling.â
Heather was the only person who considered Caprice an enemy. Furthermore, there were only a handful of people who could
tamper with the ticket machine.
Isabel rubbed her temples.
She was going to warn Caprice to be careful of Heather, but it turned out that her warning was not necessary. Caprice was
already fully aware of Heather's hostility against her.
She announced excitedly, âI have good news, my brother just fired her. | even gave her two good slaps on the face for you!â
Caprice was shocked to hear this. âLiam fired her?â
Freya was caught off-guard by this as well.
Isabel wondered why the news came off as such a shocker to Caprice. âYeah, why?â
Caprice muttered, âI thought they were...â
âWhat about them?â Isabel asked.
Caprice figured that since even Sylvia did not know that Heather and Liam were dating, there was no chance that Liam would
have told Isabel.
She was careful to not expose Liamâs secret and quickly made something else up on the spot. âI thought she was Liamâs capable
assistant?â
âAhh...â Isabel mused. âSheâs a good assistant, I'll give that to her. Still, it was only by sheer luck that she managed to secure her
position in Carter Tech City. Donât worry about it, thereâs plenty of very capable candidates willing to fill in for her spot.â
Caprice nodded absentmindedly.
Isabel gently caressed her hair. âHey, | have to start preparing for a scene | need to shoot tomorrow. Talk to you next time!â
âOkay. Goodbye, Isabel.â
âSee you.â
Isabel walked away.
Freya expressed disdainfully, âHeather and her dirty tricks! | canât stand her.â
If Liam had not shown up in time, Caprice would have been trampled flat.
Caprice smiled faintly. âItâs alright, at least nothing terrible happened to me.â
Freya took a deep breath and suddenly remarked, âI have to say, | wasnât expecting Liam to fire
her.â
Neither did Caprice.
Heather was his girlfriend, how did he find the heart to fire his girlfriend?
âCaprice, do you think Liam has just been keeping her around for his amusement this entire time?â
âNo, | donât think so. Heâs not that kind of person.â Caprice was convinced that Liam would not toy with other peopleâs feelings.
Freya could not make sense of it. âWhat's his thought process? Is it simply because Heather crossed a line in abusing her
power?â
Caprice considered for a moment.
That just might be it.
Liam had started Carter Tech City from the ground up. Surely he would not stand for Heather abusing her power and tampering
with the ticket machine. Maybe it was an issue of professional
integrity.
While she was still musing about this, a robot marched up to them and spoke in a mechanical voice, âDear visitors, Carter Tech
City will be closing in ten minutes. Please head to the exit, thank you.â
Freya tugged at Caprice. âThe gate is closing. Come on, let's get out of here.â
Caprice let Freya lead the way.
She reached for a phone while heading toward the exit and sent a text to Liam. âHey Liam, I'll be leaving with Frey, see you.â
It was a shame she could not say goodbye in person. She supposed a text would suffice.
She tucked the phone back in her pocket after that and did not take a second look at it. She and Freya were among the last
group of people to leave Carter Tech City.
As soon as they stepped past the gates, they saw Moses waving at them.
âHey girls, Iâll send you two home.â He walked up to them and offered kindly.
Caprice asked out of curiosity, âWhere are Kenneth and Jonathan? Weren't you supposed to go with them?â
