Before he could reply, the police officers went into an uproar.

“Little Chen, are you stupid? You did such a heroic deed and must take the opportunity to get some big award from Chief Gao. A meal is too small.”

Chen Yuning looked at Gao Ran and smiled gently.

“I’ve admired Chief Gao ever since I was in the university and want to learn some detective skills from him. But he’s so busy that he doesn’t even have time to have a proper meal. So I’ll take this opportunity to learn something from Chief Gao while I have a meal with him. Would you give me the chance, Chief Gao?” Chen Yuning glanced at Gao Ran as she said the last sentence.

It would look bad if he refused her in front of so many people; after all, she had just done a deed of merit and gained people’s admiration.

But if he agreed, Lingling would be sad if she learns about it. Right now, Lingling was quite paranoid.

Gao Ran said with a chuckle, “Okay. I’ll treat everyone in our bureau to a meal. I’ll use three months of my salary to give a feast to you eating machines.” He tried to use a group feast to get out of the difficult situation.

But Chen Yuning wasn’t so easy to fool.

When Gao Ran entered the room on the top floor, he was surprised to see that Zhu Lingling and Boyuan were in there, too.

“What’s up? You even got my wife and son here… Chu, are you having a gathering for in-laws?”

Gao Ran took off his jacket with a chuckle.

“Dad, Uncle Qin said he’d treat us to a feast of seafood.” Boyuan cut in with a laugh.

“Seafood feast? Is it a treat for us? I guess he’s treating his wife and we’re here to keep her company.”

Gao Ran chuckled. He wasn’t an enthusiastic fan of seafood, but Huo Mian loved it and everyone around her knew it.

Obviously, Qin Chu had asked them here to keep her company.

“Do you want to eat or not? Stop babbling…”

Qin Chu was relaxed when he was with Gao Ran. They had bickered with each other ever since they were in high school.

“Of course I do. It’s free food anyway,” Gao Ran cocked his head and replied.

Little Bean and Boyuan were happily playing a game on their cellphones while Pudding browsed news quietly on her cellphone.

“Hey, our young rich lady Pudding, how’s your stock speculation lately?” Gao Ran looked at Pudding in amusement.

Dressed in a white sweater, red skirt, and black boots, she looked like a small princess with her long hair.
