Qin Chu was getting hot water for Huo Mian when she woke up. He’s been taking care of her for days, and barely ate or slept.

He was going to wipe Huo Mian’s face and feet for her when she woke up.

“Honey…”

Qin Chu’s body froze upon hearing the weak voice of his wife. He quickly turned around and raced up to the bed, feeling incredibly emotional. He called out her name gently, “Mian…”

“Honey… how long have I been sleeping?”

“Three days.”

“That’s so long… I feel dizzy…”

“Don’t move, stay down.” Qin Chu quickly pulled up her comforter.

“Honey… where’s Su Yu?”

“He’s fine, he’s resting up downstairs.”

“Where’s Huo Siqian?” Huo Mian looked at Qin Chu with a sad expression.

Qin Chu’s hand froze, and he didn’t answer.

“Honey, tell me, where’s Huo Siqian?” Huo Mian feebly grabbed Qin Chu’s arm and asked again.

“He’s… dead.” Qin Chu said slowly; he didn’t want to agitate her.

“He… died saving me… I was supposed to die…” Huo Mian’s eyes turned red.

“Mian, don’t cry, you need to take care of yourself.” Qin Chu stammered as tears welled up in Huo Mian’s eyes.

“I know he’s done a lot of evil… but he’s… always protected me… honey… I’m so sad… Huo Siqian was blown up, wasn’t he? Everyone but Su Yu and I died, right?” Huo Mian grabbed Qin Chu’s hand emotionally.

Qin Chu’s heart broke at how cold and icy Huo Mian’s hands were. “Mian, calm down, you’re still recovering, take care of yourself…”

After Qin Chu finished his sentence, Huo Mian suddenly lifted up her comforter as if she just remembered something. Her gaze froze on her flat belly.

“Honey… where’s my baby? Where’s my baby?” Her emotions were perfectly controlled; her voice was at the perfect pitch, but it successfully convinced Qin Chu of her devastation.

“Mian…” Qin Chu choked. He suddenly wanted to change the subject; he didn’t want to tell her the truth.

“Honey… where’s the baby? Did I give birth already? Is he in PICU? Can you take me to him?”

Huo Mian’s questions made Qin Chu feel even worse. “Our baby’s not in PICU.”

“Where is he then?”

“He’s… not here anymore.” Qin Chu used all the strength in his body to say these four words.

“What… do you mean by that?” Huo Mian’s eyes widened as she stared at Qin Chu’s face without blinking.

“Our baby’s gone. Mian, you and Su Yu both sustained injuries in the explosion, and our baby died in your womb. The doctors performed emergency surgery on you when you were admitted.”

“I don’t believe you, Honey, you’re pulling my leg, right? Haha, I don’t believe you.” Tears poured out of Huo Mian’s face as she laughed.

Qin Chu felt like someone had stabbed his heart with a dagger. “Mian, calm down… I know it’s a lot to take in… but it’s what happened. It’s okay, we’ll have more children… the only thing I can’t take is you leaving the world, leaving me.”

Tears fell down his face as he said this… a veil of sadness falling upon the room.
