Chapter 179
Billionaire’s Missing Darling
Lindy wasnât faring any better. Her voice took on a dreamy quality as she exclaimed. âTo be able to care for Mr. Bookâs health, one must have the skill level of a true miracle doctor, right?â
As she spoke, her eyes suddenly sparkled, and she raised her voice, commanding, âThe butler, where is the butler? Quickly gather everyone here.â
From this very moment, Olivia became the most esteemed guest in the Patterson family. Everyone had to prioritize her, and there couldnât be even the slightest hint of negligence.
Lindyâs swift actions spoke volumes.
In the blink of an eye, everyone in the Patterson family realized that Olivia was an esteemed guest not to be taken lightly.
A kitchen was even set aside exclusively for Olivia. Chefs and a few kitchen hands were dispatched to assist.
Oliviaâs accommodation was upgraded, from a regular guest room to a small standalone building with a garden.
A group of servants was also reassigned specifically to attend to her.
The rooms underwent a complete transformation. The bed linens were replaced with luxurious silk, and the simple decorations were swapped out for unique pieces.
They even managed to find an artwork by a famous painter, which once sold at a staggering 60 million dollars.
Gabriel had been leisurely observing his wife as she busied herself with giving various instructions.
But then he caught sight of that exquisite painting.
His eyes widened, and he dared not speak too loudly for fear of startling her and causing her to accidentally scratch the painting.
âWhat are you doing? Why have you brought this out?â Itâs the centerpiece of his collection, and he was reluctant to even touch it.
He was really nervous.
Lindy glanced at him and chuckled. âOnce Ms. Olivia has successfully treated Anthonyâs ailment, weâll present the painting as a gift to her.â
11-155 Gabriel was nearly heartbroken. âYou couldâve given money or our company stocks. Why did you choose this?â
This painting was his most prized possession.
It was something that couldnât be bought with mere money.
Lindyâs tone remained firm. âThis is the only way we can express our sincerity.â
As Gabriel gazed at the painting, there was a fleeting moment when he didnât want Olivia to cure his son.
Olivia stayed at the Patterson residence for five days. The visible improvement in Anthonyâs health was so rapid that it even made Lindy look askance.
She spent nearly the entire day doting on her son, frequently asking, âAre you feeling uncomfortable?â
She worried whether such a swift recovery might have any side effects. She dearly wished to take her son to the hospital for a checkup, but she hesitated, fearing that it might upset Olivia.
This had already happened before. If it happened again, no matter how good Oliviaâs temper was, she would be angry.
Lindy didnât dare take the risk.
âNo.â Anthony shook his head, then jumped a few times in novelty.
This was his first experience of feeling as light as a feather.
He finally realized that his body actually could be so agile.
For the past 18 years, every moment of every day, he had carried a heavy burden. He felt as though his back was weighed down by a thousand pounds, gasping heavily after taking a few steps.
Anthony was jumping, running, and occasionally pinching his own arms and legs out of curiosity.
Upon seeing this, Lindy tilted her head while her heart ached terribly.
She gently wiped her eyes and her expression softened. âWould you like to take a walk outside? Iâve asked Ms. Olivia, and she said itâs fine.â
âReally?â
Anthonyâs eyes lit up while hearing this.
He was just like a child, eager to explore the outside world. His eyes were filled with excitement and curiosity.
11:152 Lindy nodded. âOf course.â
Anthony went outside for a run, and Lindy watched from behind with a smile.
On the way, they met Eaton, who was taking a stroll.
Seeing Anthony running in the courtyard, Eaton was so shocked that his tongue seemed to freeze.
âWhy⦠Why did you come out?â he stammered.
âYou are surprised, arenât you?â Anthony hopped over, full of youthful energy, no longer the gloomy figure of the past.
âMr. Arthur.â Lindy walked over and explained with a smile, âMs. Olivia has been helping Anthony with his recovery. Heâs much better now.â
Upon hearing this, Eaton subconsciously frowned.
He spoke inwardly, âMs. Olivia? That young girl? Wasnât this a bit absurd? That girl hadnât even graduated, had she?ââ
Eaton wanted to say something, but he swallowed his words.
After all, Olivia was a doctor invited by the Patterson family, and it wasnât appropriate to gossip behind their backs.
The old doctor sat on a stone bench, extended his hand, and motioned for Anthony to come over. He wanted to check his pulse.
He was worried that if the girl treated him recklessly, there would be a serious condition.
He felt the need to check Anthonyâs current health condition.
Anthony obediently came over and sat on the other side of the stone bench.
Eaton placed his index and middle fingers on Anthonyâs wrist and carefully checked his pulse.
âWhat?â Eaton furrowed his brow and gestured for Anthony to use his other hand so he could check again.
Lindy stood to the side. She was nervous and her face tense when she noticed his unusual expression.
âMr. Arthur, is Anthony alright?â She asked cautiously.
Eaton paid no attention and felt the pulse on Anthonyâs other hand.
This time, his expression of astonishment was even more pronounced. He couldnât contain it at all.
11:15 âHow is this possible?â He stood up and carefully sized Anthony up. âItâs not possible, absolutely impossible.â
He frowned. âNo, you must go to the hospital immediately. Right away.â
Lindy was so frightened by Eatonâs words that her legs went weak, and she was on the verge of tears.
âWhatâs wrong? Is there something wrong with Anthony?â
Eaton nodded seriously. âYes, thereâs something wrong, very wrong!â Lindy almost fell over. She gripped the stone table tightly with both hands and barely managed to hold on. âWhatâs wrong?â
Eaton said, âHeâs too healthy!â
Lindy remained stunned.
If not for the fact that Eaton was old, Lindy would have scolded him angrily for scaring her like that.
Anthony was also speechless. He couldnât help but intervene, holding Lindyâs hand, and said, âYouâve scared my mom.â
In the face of his s, Lindy felt relief wash over her, and she began to lose her strength. She was so weak that she couldnât even sit upright.
Sitting on the stone bench, she leaned on Anthony.
Eaton hadnât anticipated Lindyâs reaction and realized that his previous words had been quite shocking.
He quickly apologized, âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry, I was just so surprised.â
However, he shifted his tone. âBut we still need to go to the hospital for a detailed checkup.â
Lindy wanted to go to the hospital as well but was concerned about Olivia. After hesitating, she asked Eaton, âWhen you checked Anthonyâs pulse just now, is he really fine?â
Eaton replied, âIâm not so sure. Itâs best to visit the hospital for a thorough examination. We should do a CT scan and Xârays.â This was a habit he had developed at the provincial hospital. He wouldnât easily draw conclusions without seeing the test results.
Times had changed, and traditional medicine needed to adapt. If an issue could be resolved with modern technology, there was no need to make assumptions.
Lindy thought for a moment and nodded. âThen letâs go for the checkup 11:15 tomorrow. We can make the appointment today.â
Eaton thought of the crowds at the provincial hospital and agreed. It was indeed necessary to make an appointment in advance.
In fact, Lindy was just making up an excuse.
People of their status didnât need to queue for appointments. They could directly go to a private hospital and receive VIP service.
However, Eaton was unaware of this.
Anthony understood this, though.
After returning to the house, he asked, âMom, donât you want me to go to the hospital for a checkup?â
Lindy shook her head. âWe need to ask for Ms. Oliviaâs opinion. It wouldnât be respectful to her profession if we bypass her and go for a private checkup.â
