“Why is he here? Is he invited to this birthday party as well? He didn’t mention anything to me just

now...” Ashlynn thought.

Before she could wrap her head around what was happening, a figure darted past her.

Meredith hurried over to Corentin. “Here you are, Corentin. I thought that you won't be coming to

my birthday party. I know that you care about me..." She stilled before she could finish her sentence,

as Corentin had ignored her and continued to walk past her, before stopping in front of Ashlynn.

The others instantly wondered if Corentin was truly seeing Ashlynn. They had all seen the way

Corentin ignored Meredith and Meredith's expression darkened.

Someone decided to add fuel to the fire. “Mr. Lloyd, this lady here brags about being your woman.

How could a woman this arrogant be associated with you? She can only dream about it.”

Ashlynn frowned and thought to herself, “I wouldn't have said that if I knew he was coming.’

Corentin lowered his face until it was inches away from Ashlynn’s. “Did you really say that?"

Her heart raced as she regretted saying Corentin’s name in public.

“Yeah, she said that. We are telling the truth. It's clear to everyone that she’s making it up.”

“How dare she bring such a cheap gift here?”

“That's right. We all know how exquisite Mr. Lloyd's taste is. How could he be interested in her?”

Corentin turned to glare at them darkly. “What taste?”

The few who spoke out were startled into silence.

He turned back to Ashlynn and took off his jacket, before laying it on her shoulders. “It's cold here.

You don't want to catch a cold.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and turned to leave.

Humiliated, Meredith blocked their ways. “Corentin Lloyd, how dare you treat me like this?”

“I can do anything I want.”

Meredith could not be bothered by all the eyes watching them. She would only look more pathetic

if she did not fight and if she won, she would be able to protect her pride.

“Corentin, you used to be different. You would often buy me gifts from time to time. Why did you

change as soon as this woman showed up? How is she better than me?” Meredith questioned.

Ashlynn stared at Meredith quietly and thought, “Why else? Of course, it's because the real Corentin

has been replaced by someone else.’

"We will talk about us later. Get out of my way.” Corentin did not intend on stopping.

Meredith stood her ground angrily. Fearing that the situation would escalate, the others hurried

over to pull Meredith away.

Corentin left with Ashlynn in his arms and once they were inside the elevator, Ashlynn gave his

jacket back and said, “You shouldn't have crossed her.”

“If 1 was who I used to be, I would have slapped her across the face.” He smiled evilly.

“Indeed. I didn't expect you to change this much.”

Salvatore used to be hot-tempered and no one would dare to risk crossing him, fearing that they

would bring disaster upon themselves.

Corentin lowered his voice and said, “Don’t worry. I'm still the same man in bed.”

She turned her face away from him in disgust. “Your dad won't be happy about this.”

“Does it look like I'm scared of him? He should be afraid of me.”

Just then, the small carrier Ashlynn was carrying moved. Her dog had pushed the zip open and

poked its head out, looking around curiously.
