Chapter 304
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 304
Curtis finally looked up from his papers, flicking ashes from his cigarette.
âI mean, they are cats.â he replied.
At a loss for words, Jennifer took a deep breath, visibly fighting the urge to punch him.
âCan you be serious for once? I need to talk to you about something important.â
Curtis remained nonchalant, âYou were just telling me to speak up, now youâre playing coy?â
Jennifer was furious, but held back, giving him a sharp look. âIs there really no chance for you and Suzan?â
âI wonder if you would have discussed matters of national importance with me.â Curtis returned his attention to the documents in his hand, dismissive. âMrs. Richardson, Iâm really busy. If youâre bored and want to chat, I charge by the second.â
âAs if I love chatting with you, a single sentence from you is enough to kill me.â Jennifer sighed. âWerenât you and Suzan doing well when you dated?â
Curtis sneered, his words laced with irony, âWhy I dated her should be obvious to you.â
âThat was for your good! You two grew up together and seemed perfect for each other. I hoped that youâ¦â
She was cut off as Curtis interjected, âWho told you we were perfect for each other?â
âI saw it with my eyes that the night I saw you two embracing.â
âWhich night?â
âYour sophomore year, after you won the mathematics competition and came back
home.â
Curtis remembered. âOh, that night.â
He took the cigarette from his mouth, twirling it between his fingers, his smirk cryptic.
âShe came out to talk and didnât say much before she was all over me. I was too busy watching Leanne holding hands with some boy to push her away.â
âSuzan told me she confessed to you and you accepted.â
Curtis had just heard about this, clicking his tongue, âI didnât even hear what she said.â
Jennifer was speechless, her emotions churned like a stormy sea.
For years, Curtis had been rebellious at home, living a carefree and reckless life. As his mother, she couldnât stand it anymore.

So she compromised, agreeing to let him minor in economics on the condition that he cut ties with his frivolous affairs and seriously date Suzan.
Sure, the Wrights werenât as high up on the ladder as the Richardsons, but their close-knit bond made them a pretty good pair.
In the end, it was all a comedic misunderstanding.
âDonât tell me you liked Leanne back then. How old was she?â
The men from the Richardson family were both strikingly handsome. The eldest, Phillip, resembled their father Maddox. Curtis had always been told he looked like Jennifer.
Privately, Jennifer had always had a soft spot for him.
Now here was wayward Curtis, slouching on the couch, his laugh both open and infuriating, âIâm a jerk. Is this news to you?â
Jennifer felt a migraine coming on.
She sighed deeply, no longer wanting to deal with him.
But she couldnât just leave it be.
âMr. Wright has been having trouble with his eyes. Heâs in the hospital. Come with me.â
Curtis was disinterested, âA minor illness doesnât need visiting. If it is a serious one, you and dad can handle it. My presence wonât heal him.â
Jennifer cut straight to the point, âLeanne is his attending physician.â
Curtis paused, his expression cloudy.
âWith all the hospitals and doctors in Stonebridge, why her?â
âThe Wright family lives near that hospital. Itâs probably just a coincidence,â Jennifer explained. âBut given the situation with Suzan, they might hold a grudge against Leanne.â
âSince sheâs involved now, come with me to show some goodwill. Itâll put their minds at ease and spare Leanne any trouble.â
The clinic was bustling that afternoon and Leanne was too busy to even drink water. When she finally called the last patient and felt her back ache, she headed to her office to tackle the pile of paperwork waiting for her.
The door banged open rudely.
Leanne looked up from her computer to see Claudine pushing the door open, a scowl etched between her brows, âYou really think highly of yourself, donât you? Hardly approachable.â
Leanne ignored the emotional outburst, getting straight to the point, âHave the test results
come back?â

âItâs because the results are ready that I called you, and yet here you are, acting high and mighty. Donât think just because the Richardson family backs you that you can ignore us.â
âWhat does this have to do with the Richardson family?â Leanne remained calm. âIâm a public hospital doctor, not your familyâs private physician. I canât be at your beck and call.â
âI told you this morning. Once the results are ready, show them to me.â
