David went back to the bedroom after hanging up.

As soon as he entered the bedroom, he heard soft sobbing.

Though deep in sleep, Rachel was sobbing non-stop, and her tears had already soaked her pillow wet.

She was curled up tightly like a wounded little beast and was whimpering softly.

“Rae-Rae. Rae-Rae.” Someone was calling her softly, and the voice gradually became clearer.

Rachel opened her eyes in a daze. She looked at David in front of her. As she recalled what happened,

Rachel suddenly stretched out her arm and wrapped it around David’s neck.

David could feel Rachel trembling when they hugged.

Rachel buried her head in David’s chest and said in a m*ffled voice, “David, can you hug me tightly?”

David looked at that little head buried in his arms. He scooped her up from the bed and embraced her

tightly. When Rachel’s body gradually relaxed, David stretched out his fingers and lifted her chin,

forcing Rachel to look at him.

Their eyes met.

Rachel’s long eyelashes were wet from the crying. Her beautiful eyes were filled with tears and looked

misty. It was heartbreaking to look at her. David stretched out his finger and tucked her hair behind her

ear. He brushed his fingers across the corner of her eyes and gently wiped away the tears. “What’s

wrong?”

“I had a nightmare,” Rachel spoke softly. She sounded depressed. David pulled her back into his arms

and kissed her temple. “What did you dream about?” Rachel leaned against his chest and hesitated for

a moment. “I dreamed that, you abandon me.” She was alone in the darkness.

“I will never do that.” David caressed her cheek. His dark eyes brimming with ineffable tenderness. His

calm tone was firm. “Ever.”

The two of them lay on the bed hugging each other. David wrapped his arms around her shoulders and

gently patted her with his warm palms.

Rachel, who was nestled in his arms, fidgeted restlessly. “Let’s chat, David.” “What do you want to talk

about?” David’s eyes were heavy, but he still indulged her. Rachel pondered for half a second.

“Anything is fine.”

After a few seconds of silence, David said, “Have you arranged a time to visit Aureliana?” His deep

voice was a little h**rse, making one’s ears tingle. “I want to go after that trial in two weeks,” Rachel

said.

After all, that matter concerned Jessica. She was worried.

Jessica was a good person, but she never seemed to care about her reputation.

She could not be bothered to explain herself, even if she was misunderstood.

David looked down at the woman in his arms and replied, “Tell me in advance when you’ve arranged

the time.”

“Alright.” Rachel exhaled softly. Her attractive eyes were filled with wonderment. “Do you think I’ll be

treated as an anomaly if I go to Aureliana?”

There were rumors of Aureliana prohibiting outsiders from entering the country.

Aureliana was a mysterious country, and the outside world knew little about it. Aureliana had its own

culture and legal system. It was a unique existence.

All these years, no one had reported being able to enter and leave the country at will.

“Why do you ask?” David raised his eyebrows slightly. There was a hint of playfulness in his eyes.
