Chapter 511
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 511
Rachel wasnât too concerned at first. Eavesdropping was not her particular interest.
On the other hand, she was instantly drawn to the sound of a familiar voice.
On the gardenâs stone stairs, Jimmy and Landon were having a conversation.
âAlthough Marina is ambitious, this is far from enough for her to launch an attack on David in Seaxas.â
It was Landon who spoke.
His voice was even and unruffled, yet there was an undercurrent of tension.
Jimmy lit a cigarette. Without haste, he exhaled the cigarette smoke and said, âThatâs true, but she
hasnât wasted any time for the past few days. She has been seeing the members of the Four Families
in Seaxas rather often recently. You canât argue that this is simply a casual stop-by, right?â
The room became silent once he finished speaking.
After some time, Jimmyâs voice sounded again. âAs far as I know, this includes the Cruise family too.â
Landon knew about the issues between Rachel and Olivia, even if no one else did. Since they were
aware, Marina would be as well.
Since Oliviaâs arrival, she had been nothing but trouble. It wouldnât matter if she managed to wipe every
digital footprint from the Internet since people would still remember.
âEven though Marina doesnât have much power in Seaxas, many people are willing to work for her due
to the fact that she is the oldest daughter of the Jones family in Aureliana.â
When Jimmy said that, he wasnât trying to flatter Marina.
He knew the Jones family held influence in Aureliana and that many aspired to the familyâs status.
Every single person in Seaxas would drop everything to come to Marinaâs assistance at the drop of a
hat as soon as she made an offer.
Landon let out a hearty laugh. Unmistakable disdain dripped from his voice as he stated, âWhat else
can the Cruise family do?â
Rachel smiled silently.
Indeed, the Cruise family was unable to alter anything at this point.
Marina was very foolish if she believed that siding with Olivia and working along
with Olivia would help her against Rachel.
While she was deep in her thoughts, there was a knock on Rachelâs door.
She quickly got to her feet. The flower pot on the balcony fell over as she stood up.
Thankfully, she caught the flower pot just in time.
She let out an inward sigh of relief and hurried back to her room.
Rachel opened the door. She was slightly stunned to see Mr. Chadwick and greeted him politely, âMr.
Chadwick.â
âMiss Grey,â said Mr. Chadwick as the corners of his mouth curled into a faint smile. Like Old Mr.
Johnson, he had an air of gentle kindness and tranquility while he continued, âMr. Johnson would like to
have you over for a chat.â Rachelâs beautiful round eyes suddenly seemed to take on an air of gravity.
There must be some pressing matter for her grandfather to discuss at this hour. âHold on.â Rachel went
and changed into appropriate attire and followed Mr. Chadwick to her grandfatherâs room.
As soon as she walked into the room, she heard the sound of a cup shattering.
Rachel sneaked a glance at Mr. Chadwick.
Mr. Chadwick, sensing the uncomfortable silence, coughed lightly to break the ice before responding
c**lly, âIt should be Mr. Louis in there.â
After giving a tiny nod, Rachel entered the room.
Lucas knelt on the floor. Old Mr. Johnson raised his walking stick and was about to hit Lucas with it.
Just in time, Rachel called out, âGrandpa!â There was a flicker of nervousness in her eyes as she took
in the sight of Old Mr. Johnsonâs lifting his walking stick.
The moment Old Mr. Johnson saw her, his eyes twitched slightly. The anger had gone out of his eyes,
but his voice still carried an undercurrent of rage, saying, âYouâre here.â
Rachel walked forward and held Old Mr. Johnsonâs arm. âWhat happened?â
âLet him speak for himself!â Old Mr. Johnson roared as he waved the walking stick in his hand.
