Chapter 164
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Allison just walked in, just in time to hear Ashleyâs words. She asked Instinctively, âWhat weird stuff is going on?â
Payton answered, âHer sis works in a mental hospital, dealing with all sorts of patients is part of her job;
isnât that stuff interesting?â
âYeah, itâd be worrying if nothing strange was happeningâ
Ashley took a sip of water, then mysteriously said, âHereâs the kicker, itâs a mental hospital, but recently a nonâmental patient moved in. They even booked the entire top floor, with four or five beefcakes guarding the entrance; only specific doctors can go in, itâs really mysterious.â
Hearing this, Allisonâs water glass suddenly stopped midâair.
What a coincidence, huh?
She tried to stay calm and asked. âAshley, where does your sister work?â
âAt Mercy Grove Hospital, a small private mental hospital. I tried to convince her to change jobs, but she said the workload there is light and the benefits are not too shabbyâ
Allison understood.
Ashleyâs sister actually worked at Mercy Grove Hospital.
And the mysterious patient on the sixth floor was her mother, Grace.
She walked over and sat at the round table, discussing the matter with everyone, âIs it really that mysterious? Has your sister seen this person?â
âMy sister is just a regular nurse, the sixth floor is locked, and she canât see the person. But my sister heard from the cleaning staff that itâs a female patient. Itâs all very mysteriousâ
Everyone started discussing other matters, and Allison sat quietly listening, wondering how she could rescue her mother. Her motherâs health was deteriorating; any rash action could be dangerous, and she didnât know how things were going with Adrian.
She listened as the girls shifted from talking about makeup to jewelry, then to the big families in Northfield and some family gossip, even mentioning Lucianâs name with occasional squeals.
She stood up and checked her watch, âIâve gotta head out.â
âMy sister always wants me to go to the hospital during the day to help take care of the kids, you guys know, most of the kids at Mercy Grove Hospital have issues. And they donât pay much; Iâd rather stay home and sleep.â
Allison was just at the door when she suddenly stopped. She turned around and asked. âAshley, what did you just say? Is Mercy Grove Hospital hiring?â
âYeah.â
âIâd like to go there.â
To Allisonâs surprise, the opportunity came quicker than she thought.
âYou want to go?â Ashleyâs eyes widened in surprise, âAllison, itâs a mental hospital!â
Allison smiled, âEarning a bit more is always good. Iâve been looking for a day job. I was just worried it might clash with my night job.â
Ashley didnât suspect anything and gave Allison her sister Adelineâs number, âThis is her number, you can contact her directly.â
âThanks, Ashley.â
The next day, Allison immediately contacted Adeline.
Since Ashley had already filled Adeline in on Allisonâs situation, their conversation went smoothly. All Allison had to do was accompany patients during the day and tell some stories to the kids, and sheâd be paid by the hour..
After ending the call, Allison was already a bit anxious. She and Adeline agreed that she would come over immediately, so she quickly changed her clothes and rushed out the door.
Her home was behind Mr. Flanaganâs house. The quickest route was through their back door. But as she stepped into the living room, she heard Penelopeâs voice.
âStop!â
Penelope was just three months pregnant; at that moment, she was holding onto the stair rail with one hand on her lower back, slowly coming down the stairs.
âYou seem pretty nervous; are you up to no good?â
Allison stopped and asked expressionlessly. âMs. Flanagan, do you need anything?â
