Chapter 255
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Allison pushed the door open and spotted a man sitting inside.
He was dressed casually, probably in his midâthirties, wearing a Melody of Delight cap. He was wearing glasses and sporting a small tuft of facial hair. Seeing Allison, Gavin did a slight doubleâtake.
She bore an uncanny resemblance to Penelope, he thought, but her beauty wasnât just skinâdeep.
The most striking thing about this waitress was her poise. She was in a red and black waitress uniform, a redâandâwhite checked bow tie at her collar. Despite her simple getâup, it couldnât mask her elegant aura.
With her subtle makeup and sharp features, Gavin found himself admiring her. âSarah, itâs such a waste that someone this talented is waiting tables here.â Sarah lit a cigarette, eyes on Allison. âAllison, this is Gavin, the director of âMelody of Delight. Heâs a friend of mine. Heâs shooting a film here and needs you as a standâin. You can name your price.â
âName my price?â Allison raised an eyebrow at Gavin. âWhy me? There are plenty of waitresses here.
You could just pick one.â
Gavin rubbed his temples. Penelope insisted on having this waitress named Allison as her standâin.
The truth is, I rented this place, and the shooting for today has to be completed. Otherwise, the accumulated costs of the crew and the loss of renting for another day would cost me a small fortune.
Penelope is our lead actress with the backing of Epic Entertainment. We canât afford to offend her, and she specifically requested you.â
Is Penelope going to refuse to shoot if Allison doesnât do it?â Sarah asked, blowing out a puff of smoke.
Gavin sighed and nodded.
âPenelope⦠I feel like Iâve heard that name somewhere.â Sarah seemed to be recalling something.
Allison smirked. âIâm the one Ms. Flanagan brought in.â
Sarah nodded. She suddenly remembered a friend who recommended Allison for a job. She always knew there was something different about Allison, that she was not the type to be content with a waitress job. Her friend had told her that it was the daughter of the Flanagan family who found her, needing to find a job for a disobedient servant.
So that was who Allison was Despite Allisonâs detached expression, Sarah could tell there was some bad blood between her and Penelope.
âIf Allison doesnât do it, Penelope really wonât shoot. The scene is important and we canât cut it. That woman is really hard to deal with!â Gavin complained.
He turned to Allison. âI donât know why Penelope specifically requested you. Given the circumstances today, Iâm at my witâs end. We canât afford to offend the lady from Epic Entertainment. Because of her, weâve had to make a lot of changes to the script. We canât afford to upset our lead actress, Leila, either.
Allison, could you do me this favor? If thereâs anything you need in the future, Iâll be there to help.â
Allison didnât respond.
Sarah said, âAllison, Gavin is a winner of this yearâs prestigious directorâs award, and this film has a high budget. Since Gavinâs asking you like this, just agree Originally, she wanted to respect Allisonâs decision and let her handle it. But having Gavin owe her a favor, that was a lot more interesting.
Allison clenched her fist. She wondered what Penelope was up to. Was she trying to humiliate her by making her a standâin?
She looked at Gavin and said, âFine, Iâll listen to Sarah.â
Gavin, relieved, slapped his thigh and exclaimed, âGreat!â
Sarah smirked. âI was the one who brokered this deal.â
Gavin thanked her profusely. âSarah, I owe you dinner.â
âItâs a deal. And donât skimp on Allisonâs pay. After all, sheâs saving you a lot of money. Renting my club and other labor costs arenât small expenses.â
âSarah, you have my wordâ
